PORE FLUID PRESSURE [5 records]

Record 1 2021-07-14

English

Subject field(s)
  • Oil Drilling
CONT

During the hydraulic fracturing process, some of the fracturing fluid may leave the fracture and enter the targeted formation adjacent to the created fracture(i. e. untreated formation). This phenomenon is known as fluid leak-off. The fluid flows into the micropore or pore spaces of the formation or into existing natural fractures in the formation or into small fractures opened and propagated into the formation by the pressure in the induced fracture.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Forage des puits de pétrole
DEF

Phénomène se produisant lorsque le liquide de fracturation hydraulique s'écoule de la fracture principale et s'infiltre dans une autre partie de la formation ou dans un autre réseau de fractures.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics (Physics)
  • Petrography
CONT

The pore fluid pressure, also called pore pressure or interstitial pressure, is the pressure of the fluid which fills the interconnected pores of the matrix.

Record 3 2011-09-20

English

Subject field(s)
  • Geology
  • Oil Drilling
CONT

The fluid flows into the micropore or pore spaces of the formation or into existing natural fractures in the formation or into small fractures opened and propagated into the formation by the pressure in the induced fracture.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Géologie
  • Forage des puits de pétrole
CONT

Record 4 2006-05-23

English

Subject field(s)
  • Vulcanology and Seismology
  • Mining Engineering
DEF

... a proven technology for acquiring empirical data on the dimensions of created fracture systems.

CONT

The production of hydrocarbon reservoirs, the exploitation of hydrothermal fields and mining activity in general are associated with microseismicity. Changes of the local stress fields and pore pressure can initiate sudden movements along existing faults or can generate new fractures which in turn result in the emission of seismic energy. Monitoring and analyses of microseismic events have the potential to delineate the internal structure of the subsurface, to obtain information on the present stress conditions and to image dynamic processes like subsidence and fluid flow.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Research and Development (Petroleum Tech.)
DEF

A limited invasion well operation conducted on wireline or other equivalent means, for purposes of determining static pore pressure, providing a qualitative assessment of permeability, and gathering of fluid samples.

CONT

Where recoveries on a drill stem or wireline test from a well permit good sampling.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Recherche et développement (Technol. pétrol.)
DEF
