Since the low cost sensor technologies available present several limitations to their inclusion in this system, it was developed and implemented a low cost sensor, as described by Valente et al.(1997), based on the heat-pulse and capacitance methods. In the first method the maximum temperature rise measured at some distance from a line heat source can be used to determine the volumetric heat capacity and hence the water content of a porous media, such as soil. The second method relates the volumetric water content with the capacitance change of a probe, inserted in the soil, according to its dielectric proprieties. Simultaneous use of both methods improves sensor accuracy, gives built-in fault detection capability, and makes possible self-calibration procedures.... In a capacitance-based method, the soil moisture can be obtained by measuring the capacitance that varies with the dielectric properties of materials. 1, record 8, English, - capacitance%2Dbased%20method

Controlled pore support prepared by heating borosilicate glass to 500-700 °C, when it undergoes a phase separation. Subsequent leaching of the borate component leaves a porous support with closely controlled pore sizes. However, it is not suitable for industrial purposes owing to its high price and lack of stability due to the continuous leaching of silica from the particles during prolonged usage in continuous flow systems, especially in alkaline media. Various methods have been employed to overcome the stability problem including the deposition of a surface coating of zirconium oxide by impregnating the controlled pore glass with a zirconium salt under vacuum followed by calcination to the oxide. 2, record 10, English, - controlled%20pore%20glass

Studies have been carried out on matrix stability and effects of coupling methodology on inorganic supports. Significant differences in controlled pore glass via azo-linkage and Schiff’s base linkage, Schiff’s base being the most stable. The model for computer simulation of inversion percolation shows the displacement of one fluid by another in porous media. The process is defined on a lattice. 1) A random number drawn from the uniform distribution on the unit interval is assigned to each site of a cell of linear size L. 2) The process starts with a seed particle or a surface and goes on by subsequent occupation of one of the perimeter sites(empty sites which are nearest neighbours of the cluster). 3) However, the perimeter site to be occupied is not selected randomly, but the one with the smallest random number or(corresponding to the smallest capillary force) is occupied. The process does not stop until the finite cell is filled in completely. 4, record 17, English, - cell
