A term which has been variously used for pre-Tertiary andesitic rocks, altered andesite rocks, and hypabyssal rocks of marked porphyritic texture and andesitic composition. The last usage is now customary. La synneusis est l'association par juxtaposition de deux ou plusieurs cristaux d'une même espèce en suspension dans un magma. Elle est fréquente dans des roches volcaniques.
