The Lake Shippers’ Clearance Association is a non-incorporated mutual association that operates as a clearance house for grain documents, somewhat on the principle of a bank clearing house. It was established in 1909 to co-ordinate shipping at Thunder Bay and direct ships to the various terminals, and its members are many of those companies that are actively involved in shipments of grain out of that port.
