A kisbie ring in general is a piece of life saving equipment that almost all ships carry. We have 4 stations onboard fitted with smoke markers, kisbie rings and other equipment which lookouts throw overboard in the event of a man overboard. As a piece of rescue equipment, these are painted orange and have the ships name on them in black in accordance with Canadian and international law. When alongside in home or foreign port, we use our ceremonial kisbie rings... in the 4 stations for decoration. We also have the stand and kisbie ring at the brow where you come aboard our ship as a welcome aboard sign and identifier. 2, record 1, English, - Kisbie%20ring

On March 1, 1999, pursuant to the new Canada Marine Act, the name and status of the Montreal Port Corporation were changed to the Montreal Port Authority(MPA).

Since durum wheats, as a class, are more drought resistant than bread wheats, they are better adapted to semiarid climates. It is not surprising then that durum wheats were first cultivated in the Mediterranean area. From the shores of the Mediterranean, durum wheat culture gradually spread to Southern Russia, and eventually to North and South America. Durum wheat exported from Argentina now, under the name Taganrog, probably originated from the Port of Taganrog in Southern Russia on the shores of the Black Sea. 1, record 19, English, - Taganrog

1, record 19, French, - Taganrog

Sometimes, a distinction must be made between the historical designation and the present designation of a given toponym. For example, history texts confirm the existence in present-day Nova Scotia of "Port-Royal"(an historically inhabited place), where Champlain built the Habitation in 1605. The Gazetteer for the province indicates the existence, near the historical site, of the rural community now incorporated under the name "Port Royal"(currently gazetteered inhabited place) ;the same comment applies to the historical "Grand-Pré" and the currently inhabited "Grand Pré". Similarly, "Castle Hill" and "Signal Hill"(Nfld.) are entities that were once inhabited and were located on the geographical entities having the same names that are currently gazetteered and have a different form in FR :"Castle Hill(Nfld.)--colline Castle(T.-N.) "and "Signal Hill(Nfld.)--colline Signal(T.-N.) ". 1, record 22, English, - historically%20inhabited%20place

PARCS CANADA.

-- colline Signal (T.-N.)». 1, record 22, French, - lieu%20historiquement%20habit%C3%A9
