This instrument measures simultaneously the amount and direction of the deviation of a borehole. The sonde is fitted with a small camera on the axis of a graduated glass bowl in which a steel ball rolls freely and a compass mounted on gimbals. The sonde is designed to lie exactly parallel to the axis of the borehole. When a reading is required at a particular depth, the camera is electrically operated from the surface and takes a photograph of the bowl. The steel ball has rolled to the lowest point and so marks the amount of deviation. Its position in relation to the image of the compass needle gives the direction of deviation. 1, record 9, English, - Schlumberger%20photoclinometer

Pure "wingers" aren’t used today as much as they used to be. "Wingers" used to be the wide forwards or midfielders (who were sometimes called "withdrawn wingers"). Today, it is more common to use wingmids or wingbacks to come up to cross the ball than to have wing forwards. Chest Trap. Trapping the ball with the chest is easy, provided that the player moves quickly enough to get in position. The chest is a bigger surface than the thigh or foot, making the ball easier to control. Players should watch the ball into the chest, and arch the back so that the ball lands as softly as possible. When under pressure, it can be helpful to steer the ball downward so that the ball moves quickly to the ground where it can be directed. 2, record 12, English, - chest%20trap

Record number: 24, Textual support number: 1 CONT
equilibrium : state of balance. When a body or a system is in equilibrium, there is no net tendency to change. In mechanics, equilibrium has to do with the forces acting on a body.... However, a state of equilibrium does not mean that no forces act on the body, but only that the forces are balanced.... The stability of a body is a measure of its ability to return to a position of equilibrium after being disturbed. It depends on the shape of the body and the location of its center of gravity... A body with a large flat base and a low center of gravity will be very stable, returning quickly to its position of equilibrium after being tipped. However, a body with a small base and high center of gravity will tend to topple if tipped and is thus less stable than the first body. A body balanced precariously on a point is in unstable equilibrium. Some bodies, such as a ball or a cone lying on its side, do not return to their original position of equilibrium when pushed, assuming instead a new position of equilibrium; these are said to be in neutral equilibrium. 1, record 24, English, - neutral%20equilibrium

Successful tree planting begins in the tree nursery with bimonthly cultivating, pruning of roots, and fertilization. This is essential to assure healthy trees and compact root structure. Planting holes for bare-root trees should be large enough to receive roots when they are spread in a natural position. Planting holes for balled and burlapped trees should be 2 feet wider than the root ball. Ideally, holes should be as wide and deep as can conveniently be made, so that the tree can be placed at the same levels as it originally grew in the nursery. 2, record 69, English, - tree%20planting

The "orbit" following the motion of a small ball put inside a funnel begins with wiggles that depend on its initial position and velocity, but converges eventually to the funnel' s tip; if the ball is bigger than the funnel aperture it comes to rest at the tip. The roll-out, or running, pass is usually a short pass-five or six yards-and can be «thrown» into the flat easily. It is usually a true option run-pass which helps offset a strong pass rush from the inside. Although it doesn’t take a great passer to execute this play, the roll-out pass does require a considerable amount of time and practice to perfect. The quarterback sprints out at controlled speed, while holding the ball in a «ready position» and looks immediately to the area he is running toward. 1, record 79, English, - roll%2Dout%20pass

1, record 79, French, - passe%20hors%20l%27aile
