Unlike the STM, the AFM [Atomic Force Microscope] can scan nonconducting samples. It can do this because it uses optical technology, direct contact, and a laser, to sense the position of the tip in relation to the sample. The tip is very sharp and protrudes from a small flexible cantilever. The laser reflects off the top side of the tip and is directed to a split photodiode. The height of the surface of the sample deflects the cantilever causing the position of the laser on the photodiode to change. The difference in voltage from the photodiode elements provide a "picture" of the surface. 6, record 4, English, - atomic%20force%20microscope

Three classes of image movement can be recognised. The most obvious ... is the steady movement due to the forward velocity of the aircraft. Next are the vibratory movements of the airframe excited by out-of-balance forces in the engines or airscrews, or by aerodynamic forces; some of this vibration always reaches the camera ... The third ... is the slow-period movement of the aircraft as a whole about its mean orientation in flight. ... The effect of image movement on resolution has always been somewhat obscure, and it [is surprising] to find how much movement can be tolerated before its results appear as a blurring of the image. 1, record 9, English, - image%20movement

for "image displacement" :"Image displacement" should not be used in this sense because it has a broader meaning than the French "filé". The somatosensory system consists of numerous pressure receptors contained within the muscles, tendons, joints, and skin. This system reacts to the sensations resulting from pressures or stretch on joints, muscles and skin and also from slight changes in the position of internal organs. These are the forces that act on the seated pilot in flight. It is closely associated with the vestibular system and to a lesser degree, the visual system. They allow the pilot to sense certain complex motions and forces of flight such as aircraft feel(buffet, control forces, rudder, trim force) and "G" forces. 2, record 11, English, - seat%2Dof%2Dthe%2Dpants%20flying
