SNOM is the acronym for "scanning near-field optical microscopy," an alternative name for NSOM (near-field scanning optical microscopy). The basic principle of such a kind of technique is quite simple: light passes through a sub-wavelength diameter aperture and illuminates a sample that is placed within its near field, at a distance much less than the wavelength of the light. The resolution achieved is far better than that which conventional optical microscopes can attain.

Microscopists are now in a position to transfer the refinements of the past 100-year techniques for enhancing contrast and highlighting specific features, such as polarization contrast, immunofluorescence and phase contrast to scanning near-field optical microscopy. With existing scanned-probe microscopes we can "see" the nanometer realm of molecules and microcircuits. As the same technology is applied to optical microscopy, we may eventually come to see that world in the familiar terms of light, shadow and color.

The low level palletizer operates at floor level. The pallet is neither raised or lowered, and the tier is formed at low level. The transfer bed or apron is raised or lowered to the appropriate level and the tier is transferred to the pallet. The bed returns to the tier-forming position, and the next layer is formed. This is repeated until the pallet is full. After the full pallet is discharged, an empty one is transferred into the load station, and the process is repeated.

The stationary roller shaft allows forward and backward motion without altering the carpet back position. The Air Traffic Control Transponder system provides the ground radar intercept controller with a distinguishing series of electronic pulses(response) from the airplane to the ground station, when triggered by a distinguishing series of electronic pulses(interrogation) from the ground station to the airplane. The transponder is capable of operation on 4, 096 interrogation and response codes in each of four modes of operation.... ATC Transponder system-1 and-2 are identical, each system consists of a receiver-transmitter, remote control panel, antenna, and associated interlocking circuits. Transponders-1 and-2 do not operate simultaneously. Selection of desired operating transponder is accomplished by placing the TFR(transfer) switch to-1 or-2 position for respective transponder operation.
