[Global navigation satellite system(GNSS) ] positioning is affected by various measurement errors, such as ionospheric delay, tropospheric delay, and multipath effect. Therefore, it is of great significance to enhance the reliability and positioning accuracy of GNSS by other means... Differential Global Positioning System(DGPS) is an enhancement Global Positioning System that uses a network of fixed ground based reference stations to broadcast the difference between the positions indicated by the satellite systems and the known fixed positions. These stations broadcast the difference between the measured satellite pseudoranges and actual(internally computed) pseudoranges, and receiver stations may correct their pseudoranges by the same amount. DGPS was especially useful when GPS was still degraded using "Selective Availability, "because it could improve accuracy to 5-10 metres. The DGPS network has been mainly developed by the Finnish and Swedish maritime administrations in order to improve safety in the archipelago between the two countries. 4, record 4, English, - differential%20global%20positioning%20system

The planimetric accuracy of the orthoimages depends on control data, the digital elevation model(DEM), and the methodology used to extract the positions of the control points on the image. The best sources of control data currently available in Canada were used to generate the orthoimages. A number of control sources were used to correct the Landsat 7 images, namely provincial vector data, roads resulting from the global positioning system(GPS), data from the National Topographic Data Base(NTBD), and geometrically corrected aerial photography(orthophotos). The control points extracted from the sources generally represent road intersections and centres of mass of lakes or islands. Different DEMs also served in generating these orthoimages; provincial DEMs and Canadian Digital Elevation Data(CDED) at the 1 : 50 000 and the 1 : 250 000 scales. Planimetric accuracy is obtained by analyzing the parameters of the geometric correction model(SRIT), the accuracy of the source data used to correct the image, and DEM accuracy. 2, record 6, English, - planimetric%20accuracy

Accurate positioning of the aircraft is essential during image acquisition. Accuracy of ± 1 m is achieved using a DGPS. Downelling irradiance is recorded so as to take into account the space-time variations in the solar altitude and the transparency of the atmosphere that occurs during image acquisition. A gyroscopic sensor records the data needed to correct the geometric distortions of the images. These distortions are due to variations in the attitude of the aircraft(essentially the roll). The ground resolution depends on the altitude from which the images are collected. 1, record 16, English, - gyroscopic%20sensor

Where positioning accuracy is concerned, it may seem surprising that the accuracy provided by the gyros has more impact than that of the accelerometers... This is due to the fact that navigation in fact occurs on a sphere, the Earth. It will therefore be readily understood that traveling along a straight line on the Earth comes down in fact to a rotation, and that rotation is detected by the gyros. In practice, gyros are subject to a zero-error known as gyro bias : When there is no rotation, a gyro should indicate zero, but in fact measures something that is the bias value. When an inertial navigation system is immobile, the gyros measure bias values that are integrated by the calculator and the unit thinks that it is rotating, and therefore advancing across the surface of the terrestrial globe, which generates a position error. It will be understood that position error shows linear growth over time and there is a direct relationship between the accuracy of a gyro and position drift. 1, record 22, English, - zero%2Derror
