There can be several causes of death among the fish in a population : removals by man(fishing), predation, disease, accidents, etc., each with its own rate. In practice[, ] we usually consider a division into only two types : fishing, and natural mortality(which includes everything else).... When fishing and natural mortality act concurrently, they are competing for the same fish, so the conditional mortality rates cannot be added. However, an expectation of death can easily be computed for each cause of mortality... 2, record 2, English, - expectation%20of%20death

The multispecies production model... was applied to simulate stock dynamics in yearly time steps and interactions of the cod, herring, and sprat stocks in the central Baltic from 1982 to 2013. It considers the trophic interactions among these stocks(predation of cod on herring, sprat, and young cod), the environmental impact on growth of cod and herring and density dependent growth of sprat. Predation in the model depends on the biomass of available food, thus cod cannibalism is dependent on clupeid biomass. 2, record 6, English, - multispecies%20production%20model

A chemical agent that causes a pest, as an insect, to stop eating. 7, record 14, English, - antifeedant
Record number: 14, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Chemicals possess the properties of inhibiting the feeding of insect pests... these can be classed as antifeedants. The first chemicals noticed with these properties were initially referred to as repellants, but they are not repellants in that they do not merely drive the insect away to another plant but do actually inhibit feeding on that plant. In laboratory tests insects have remained on treated plants indefinitely and eventually starved to death without eating the leaves. In field tests the insects were free to wander elsewhere seeking food... they either found weed plants to feed on or died of predation and starvation. 8, record 14, English, - antifeedant
