[The] Random Forests algorithm [uses] a randomly selected subset of predictors as potential splitters during the tree construction process. A new subset of predictors is randomly selected at each node and then used in searching for the optimal split value. This further reduces the mutual correlation structure of the ensemble and improves its predictive power. 2, record 1, English, - Random%20Forests%20algorithm

In computer science, decision tree learning uses a decision tree(as a predictive model) to go from observations about an item(represented in the branches) to conclusions about the item's target value(represented in the leaves). Recall now the crude Quantity Theory, which held that prices must always be proportional to the amount of money-so that doubling M [the Money supply] must exactly double P [the price level]. For many situations in the real word-with its sticky prices, booms, recessions, and thousands of changes always going on to confound the experiment-we saw that the crude Quantity Theory was not a good predicting device.... the crude Quantity Theory... has a degree of predictive value during galloping inflations and over certain long time intervals. 1, record 3, English, - crude%20Quantity%20Theory

Catterall attempted to improve the predictive value of early radiographic changes in Perthes disease by identifying four radiologic signs that indicated a capital femoral epiphysis at risk for collapse. These findings are(1) Gage's sign(a small, osteoporotic segment that forms a transradiant V on the lateral side of the epiphysis) ;(2) calcification lateral to the epiphysis;(3) lateral subluxation of the femoral head; and(4) a transverse epiphyseal line. Murphy and Marsh found that these four head at risk signs and a fifth, diffuse metaphyseal reaction, correlated better with a poor radiologic result than did the degree of epiphyseal involvement.
