Precision nutrition(PN) is an approach to developing comprehensive and dynamic nutritional recommendations based on individual variables, including genetics, microbiome, metabolic profile, health status, physical activity, dietary pattern, food environment as well as socioeconomic and psychosocial characteristics. PN can help answer the question "What should I eat to be healthy?", recognizing that what is healthful for one individual may not be the same for another, and understanding that health and responses to diet change over time.

The criterion for remission of estreated bail is that of undue hardship. The judge, at the time he determines whether the estreatment should be mitigated, takes into consideration the hardship which is likely to result. Therefore, the question of financial hardship must be assessed on the basis of its effect at the time the application for remission is made, rather than as of the date the bail was estreated. An application for remission of forfeited goods may be based on two criteria : innocence and hardship.

The criterion for that type of remission is that of undue hardship.

When a taxi driver of an unoccupied taxi is seeking passengers on a road unknown to him or her in a large city, what should the driver do? Alternatives include cruising around the road or waiting for a time period at the roadside in the hopes of finding a passenger or just leaving for another road enroute to a destination he [or she] knows(e. g., hotel taxi rank) ?... The hazard ratio is an estimate of the ratio of the hazard rate in the treated versus the control group. Subject field(s)

CONT

Recently developed techniques of organic synthesis and polymer chemistry [now permit] to synthesize catalysts having enzyme-like activities... sometimes called "synzymes"... It seems most likely... that enzyme mimics(analogues) will need a large complex structure,... as well as any portions of degraded or part-synthesized enzymes which one might hope would retain(or exhibit) particular catalytic ability. The hope derives from the finding that some complex enzymes display more than one catalytic ability, and have different domains with characteristic active sites with specificity for particular substrates and conversions.... Consideration of the development of "synzymes" leads immediately to the question of feasibility at reasonable cost in a reasonable time period. One obvious question is how faithfully must the structure of the enzyme active center be duplicated?

OBS

There is growing interest in synthetic catalysts that mimic enzymes. Bioorganic chemists study enzyme models with the hope that results of their investigations will aid in the understanding of enzyme mechanism. With the development of industrial catalysis to the point where improvement in selectivity is a central theme in research, many believe that abiotic catalysts constructed with enzymes in mind could be of value in the chemical process industry.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Sciences biologiques
DEF

DEF

The phenomenon exhibited by a measuring instrument which gives different indications in a series of measurements of the same value of the quantity measured.

OBS

1. The "dispersion of indications" can be expressed quantitatively by the standard deviation or by the range of dispersion(spread) of the indications. 2. The concept envisaged is equally applicable to measuring instruments and to graduated material measures. It is to be noted that insofar as material measures, which only reproduce a single value(or several separate values) of a quantity, are concerned, it is not theoretically correct to speak of dispersion of their "indications", given that these represent fixed values. In this case, however, it is the dispersion of the value reproduced of the quantity which is of interest, a dispersion that can be found by means of comparisons with a standard. 3. It is necessary to indicate the conditions under which the series of measurements in question is carried out : if these measurements are to follow directly one after the other; if between each of them there must be a certain time interval; if they must be carried out by the same observer or by different observers, etc...

The practice of a state is shown by its acts and attitudes in its international relations with other states. When it becomes clear that each state acts in the same way, or takes up the same attitude to the acts or omissions of other states, the practice is uniform. When there is a repetition of such uniform practice over a period of time, the practice is constant. State practice which is both uniform and constant creates a "usage". Custom requires a "general practice". No precise answer can be given to the question of how general the practice needs to be. So long as a group of states follow the practice, and accept it as law, there is a custom. All customs have begun in the same way, and become of increasingly universal application as more states align their practice to them.

"Here, the student is given clues about the identity of a president of the United States and must guess who it is. The clues come in two forms. First, a detailed computer picture of the president in question slowly appears on the screen. Second, as this happens, clues as to his identity are flashed at the bottom of the screen. At any time the player may type in a guess. The sooner the correct name is entered, the higher the number of points awarded.

It is a much disputed question in the teaching of legal authorities and in the jurisprudence of the principal countries whether the doctrine of litispendance, the object of which is to prevent the possibility of conflicting judgments, can be invoked in international relations, in the sense that the judges of one State should, in the absence of a treaty, refuse to entertain any suit already pending before the courts of another State, exactly as they would be found to do if an action on the same subject had at some previous time been brought in due form before another court of their own country.

Wegmann defines "superposed tectonics"(...) which is the interplay between two kinds of structures attributable to different epochs in the same region. "Superposed structures are only exceptionally of the same style. In most cases they are distinguished by their geometric character and by the nature of transformations"(...) It is thus a question of superposition in time. It is also, very often, a superposition in space for the upper levels are deformed at the same time as the underlying basement already tectonized. The second tectonics affects the upper strata; in the deeper levels it is "superposed" in time on a first tectonics.

OBS
