Cold cracking occurs after the weld metal solidification is complete. Cold cracking may occur several days after welding and is generally caused by hydrogen embrittlement, excessive joint restraint, and rapid cooling. Thorough cleaning of the joint area of moisture, oils and solvents, preheating, the use of low-hydrogen electrodes and dry high purity shielding gas help reduce this problem. 2, record 1, English, - cold%20cracking

Weld lines. LCPs are very shear sensitive, so the melt front will solidify quickly in the mold during processing. This rapid solidification often results in low knit-line strength. 1, record 4, French, - d%C3%A9p%C3%B4t%20de%20plasma%20%C3%A0%20solidification%20rapide

Structurally, the new hypersonic aircraft promise to be more conventional than the shuttle. Probably the most important technique advance in this area is the development of rapid solidification rate(RSR) process for the manufacture of metal alloys, which make it possible to produce alloys of greater purity, with more consistent structural qualities and greater resistance to heating. 1, record 6, English, - rapid%20solidification%20rate%20process
