A tool used to knock a clench down when removing a shoe.

Finally, the edge of the rasp is rubbed around the junction between the lower border of the horn and the (horse) shoe, so as to form a slight groove, which prevents the edge of the wall from splitting, and shoeing is complete.

Rasps are used by wood craftsmen, plumbers, leather and aluminum workers, blacksmiths and hobbyists. Rasps may be used on wood and other nonmetallic surfaces for fast removal of the material. A rough surface is left remaining, but the rough surface may be smoothed with a wood file or with abrasive papers. Wood rasps range from 6 to 16 inches and are available in bastard and smooth cuts on the faces. Edges are flat or rounded and are single cut. Rasp shapes are flat, half-round, and round.
