CONT

A catadioptric telescope is an optical system that is optimized for producing images of objects at an infinite distance, and which incorporates both refractive type optics(lenses) and reflective optics(mirrors). The use of both mirror and lens optics produces certain advantages in performance as well as in the manufacturing process.

CONT

Le télescope catadioptrique est un mélange entre le télescope réflecteur et la lunette astronomique (ou télescope réfracteur). Il se compose donc de miroirs et de lentilles.

Atmos was to have been launched in the mid-1990's with four major Earth observation systems : the Advanced Millimeter Wave Atmospheric Sounder(AMAS), the Michelson Interferometer for Passive Sounding(MIPAS), the Scanning Imaging Absorption Spectrometer for Atmospheric Cartography(SCIAMACHY), and the Reflective Optics Imaging Spectrometer(ROSIS). The first three devices were designed to analyze atmospheric chemistry, whereas the objective of ROSIS was to return moderate and high resolution, multispectral photographs of the Earth's surface.

CONT

During the European Multisensor Airborne Campaign 1994(EMAC 94), the Experimental Synthetic Aperture Radar(ESAR) and the Reflective Optics System Imaging Spectrometer(ROSIS) were flown over an experimental catchment in Belgium. Concurrent to the ESAR overflights, field data were collected in two subcatchments of the Zwalmbeek. The main objective of this remote-sensing experiment was to retrieve spatial information of surface soil moisture content.
