Newtonian telescopes consist of a concave primary mirror and a flat secondary mirror. Light enters the front opening of the telescope, travels past the diagonally mounted secondary mirror, eventually bouncing off the curved primary mirror. The curve of the mirror focuses the light onto the secondary mirror, which sends the image to your eyepiece or your astrophotography camera. 5, record 1, English, - Newtonian%20telescope

5, record 1, French, - t%C3%A9lescope%20de%20Newton

Utilizing two mirrors, a reflector telescope has a concave primary mirror located at the bottom of the telescope. It reflects inbound light to a pinpoint. A second flat mirror set at 45 degrees located below the aperture redirects the light, creating a focal point toward the eyepiece. 4, record 2, English, - reflecting%20telescope

3, record 2, French, - t%C3%A9lescope

The primary mirror is located at the lower end of the telescope tube in a reflector and has its front surface coated with an extremely thin film of metal, such as aluminum. The back of the mirror is usually made of glass, although other materials have been used from time to time. Pyrex(trademark) was the principal glass of choice for many of the older large telescopes, but new technology has led to the development and widespread use of a number of glasses with very low coefficients of expansion. 3, record 3, English, - primary%20mirror

2, record 3, French, - miroir%20primaire
