Twin lens reflex cameras have two lenses... The upper or "viewing" lens reflects off a fixed mirror and forms an image on a ground glass screen on top of the camera. The lower lens is the one which takes the photograph, and is fitted with a shutter and diaphragm. To use... look down onto the focusing screen to see what you are photographing. Turning the focusing knob moves both lenses backwards and forwards, so when your subject is sharply imaged on the ground glass the taking lens is also focused to give a sharp image on film. 3, record 5, English, - twin%20lens%20reflex%20camera

6, record 5, French, - appareil%20reflex%20%C3%A0%20deux%20objectifs

The key to the single-lens reflex camera is a mirror. Light coming in through the camera lens is reflected upward by this mirror to a viewing screen, then through a five-sided prism that turns the inverted image right-side up and right-side round and delivers it to the eye. When a picture is taken, the mirror snaps up momentarily... permitting light to strike the film at the back of the camera. Through-the-lens viewing produces an image virtually identical with that produced on the film. 6, record 6, English, - single%2Dlens%20reflex%20camera

SPI, or Sediment Profile Imagery, is an innovative and cost efficient method of surveying and/or monitoring lake or marine aquatic environments with a view to establishing the environmental status of these habitats or as part of a site suitability study.... SPI is based on single lens reflex(SLR) camera photography and computer-based image analysis which greatly accelerates the time required to write reports and provide relevant data to the client/legislator in a matter of weeks. SPI technology can readily quantify over 20 physical, chemical and biological parameters including : sediment grain size; prism penetration; surface pelletal layer; sediment surface relief; mud clasts; redox area; redox contrast; current apparent redox boundary; relict redox boundaries; methane gas vesicles; apparent faunal dominants; voids; burrows; surface features(e. g. worm tubes, epifauna, shell) ;dredged material; microbial aggregations; and successional stage. 1, record 14, English, - sediment%20profile%20imagery

Refers to viewing a scene to be photographed through the same lens through which the light entering the camera will pass. Through-the-lens viewing, as in a single-lens reflex camera, while focusing and composing a picture eliminates parallax. 2, record 15, English, - through%2Dthe%2Dlens%20viewing

1, record 15, French, - vis%C3%A9e%20%C3%A0%20travers%20l%27objectif

Traditionally a camera type favoured by press photographers for easy portability and rapid handling, in contrast to more cumbersome or less versatile studio cameras, originally a folding, rigid or reflex camera taking sheet films or plates in formats between 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 and 4x5 inches.... The term is still applied to cameras of this specification, though press photographers work with almost any advanced precision camera.... 2, record 16, English, - press%20camera

2, record 16, French, - chambre%20de%20reportage
