REFORMATE [5 records]

Record 1 2023-03-21

English

Subject field(s)
  • Petroleum Reforming
  • Anti-pollution Measures
DEF

A refining process involving heat, pressure and catalysts in order to convert low octane naphtha from crude oil distillation into high-octane reformate, a premium component for gasoline blending and petrochemical feedstocks.

OBS

catalytic reforming: designation standardized by ISO.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Reformage du pétrole
  • Mesures antipollution
DEF

OBS

reformage catalytique : désignation normalisée par l'ISO.

Record 2 2010-06-22

English

Subject field(s)
  • Chemical Engineering
CONT

Traces of impurities in the fluid to which the catalyst is exposed can adsorb at the active sites and reduce or eliminate catalytic activity. This is called poisoning and the effective impurity is called a poison.

CONT

In many cases, the reformate is then sent to another reactor to remove impurities, such as carbon oxides or sulfur, before it is sent to the fuel cell stack. This prevents impurities in the gas from binding with the fuel cell catalysts. This binding process is also called "poisoning" since it reduces the efficiency and life expectancy of the fuel cell.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génie chimique
CONT

Des traces d'impuretés dans le liquide auquel le catalyseur est exposé peuvent être adsorbées sur les sites actifs et réduire ou éliminer l'activité catalytique. Ce phénomène se nomme empoisonnement et l'impureté qui la produit est un poison.

Record 3 2004-07-23

English

Subject field(s)
  • Fuel Cells (Electr.)
DEF

A type of fuel cell in which the electrolyte is a solid, nonporous metal oxide, typically ZrO2 doped with Y2 O3, and O2- is transported from the cathode to the anode. Any carbon monoxide(CO) in the reformate gas is oxidized to carbon dioxide CO2 at the anode. Temperatures of operation are typically 800-1000°C.

CONT

Present SOFC designs make use of thin film concepts where films of electrode, electrolyte and interconnect material are deposited one on another and sintered, forming a cell structure.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Piles à combustible (Électricité)
DEF

Record 4 2003-07-18

English

Subject field(s)
  • Fuel Cells (Electr.)
DEF

Output of a fuel processor. Such a gas stream will often contain hydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.

CONT

Until scientists solve these problems, most fuel-cell systems will rely on devices called fuel processors (or reformers) to convert hydrocarbon fuels such as natural gas, methanol and gasoline into a hydrogen-rich gas. Unfortunately, this processed (or reformed) gas ...

Key term(s)
  • hydrogen rich fuel
  • hydrogen rich gas

French

Domaine(s)
  • Piles à combustible (Électricité)
DEF

Mélange gazeux riche en hydrogène.
