Grapes begin their growth cycle in the spring when average daily temperature is about 10 °C (50 °F). To reach maturity, they require a certain amount of heat above 10 °C during the growing season. This amount of heat, called the heat summation, is calculated by totalling the number of degrees of average daily temperature over 10 °C for each day of the growing season. A heat summation of about 1,800 is required for successful growth. If the heat summation is less than required, the grapes will not ripen; they will reach the end of the growing season with insufficient sugar and too much acidity. ... Where the heat summation is much greater than required, ... the grapes mature earlier and with less acidity and colour than those produced under cooler conditions. Factors influencing the heat summation of a vineyard and, therefore, grape composition include exposure ... air drainage ..., soil temperature (above 10 °C during the growing season), and soil moisture content ... 3, record 3, English, - heat%20summation

The Mixedwood Plains ecozone consists of the St. Lawrence River valley of Quebec and Ontario and the inter-Great Lakes region of southern Ontario. The ecozone is the most populated in Canada and the most intensely developed.... The climate consists of warm summers and cool winters. Once heavily forested, the Mixedwood Plains ecozone contains the greatest variety of tree species in Canada, though only about 10% of the forests, mostly a mixture of coniferous and deciduous trees, remains. Though relatively small in land area, the ecozone is very important agriculturally. The fertile soils, warm growing season, abundant rainfall and gentle topography of rolling hills and level plains result in a very productive and varied agriculture. The ecozone contains the most productive soils in Canada. Dairy, beef, poultry and eggs, and grains and oilseeds are important agricultural commodities. 2, record 13, French, - %C3%A9cozone%20des%20plaines%20%C3%A0%20for%C3%AAts%20mixtes

The Keskinada Loppet cross-country ski race first came on to the scene in 1978 under the name of "Rivière rouge"(Red River). It took place in Quebec' s Lachine region approximately one hundred kilometres north-east from the Gatineau Park. The race consisted of two events, a 55 km and a 35 km race. This established The Rivière Rouge as Canada's largest cross-country ski event. Eventually the equipment and support services became inadequate for the growing ski race. In 1982 the Rivière Rouge moved to the Gatineau Park in the northern part of Hull, Quebec. With this move, the race was also re-baptised the "Gatineau 55". In 1989, the Gatineau 55 replaced its 35 km event with a 25 km freestyle race and a 25 km classic race. In 1996 the three events officially became the "Keskinada Loppet", a name that deserves some explination : Ke for Quebec, SKI for cross-country skiing, and NADA for Canada. The Word "Loppet" is of scandinavian origin for "large gathering". 1, record 20, English, - Keskinada%20Loppet

1, record 20, French, - Keskinada%20Loppet

In order to help accelerate the benefits that Canadians can realize from information technologies, the Government of Canada created a blue ribbon panel of experts to advise on how Canada can take a leading role in developing "smart communities. "Upon the panel' s recommendations, the government has committed to establishing a Smart Community demonstration project in each province, the North and an Aboriginal community by the year 2000. The federal government envisions Smart Communities as communities that use information technology in new and innovative ways to empower their residents, institutions and region as a whole. Smart Communities make the most of the opportunities that new technologies afford-for better health care delivery, for better education and training, and for growing businesses. In the simplest non-linear Langevin equation, the first term describes the relaxation of the interface due to the surface tension. Its meaning is quite obvious: protrusions (places with local curvature less than zero) tend to disappear under the influence of the smoothing effect of surface tension. 2, record 30, English, - bump
Record number: 30, Textual support number: 2 CONT
In solidification terms, if the surface has a part with positive curvature(bump), the molecules in this region can leave the surface easier because the molecules on the surface have fewer neighbours with attractive interactions bonding them to the growing phase. For places with negative curvature the situation is reversed. 2, record 30, English, - bump
