RELAY ARMATURE [7 records]

Record 1 2016-05-24

English

Subject field(s)
  • Coils and Windings (Electrical Components)
  • Magnetism and Electromagnetism
CONT

What is [a] relay armature? A type of electromechanical relay made of coils and contacts. Energized coil induces movement of the armature via magnetic field, which results in opening or closing of the contacts.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Bobines et bobinage (Composants électrotechniques)
  • Magnétisme et électromagnétisme
CONT

Par «courant de relâchement» un entend le courant maximum pour lequel une armature de relais retombe de toute sa course jusqu'à sa position normale, en fermant un ou tous ses contacts de repos.

Record 4 2007-12-10

English

Subject field(s)
  • Landing Gear (Aeroindustry)
  • Aircraft Systems
CONT

To prevent overtravel of the landing gear, a dynamic brake relay within the relay box simultaneously breaks the power circuit to the motor winding in use and makes a complete circuit through the armature and the unused field winding. This causes the motor to act as a ’generator’ and the resultant electrical load on the armature stops the gear almost instantly.

Key term(s)
  • over-travel

OBS

English

Subject field(s)
  • Telegraph Equipment
  • Telegraphic Networks and Operations
  • Telecommunications Transmission
DEF

A telegraph relay with additional windings so excited as to produce a certain regular oscillation of the armature between its stops in the absence of line current in the normal winding, with the object of increasing the sensitivity of the relay and at the same time reducing the degree of distortion, if any, of the restituted signals.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Appareils de télégraphie
  • Réseaux et exploitation télégraphiques
  • Transmission (Télécommunications)
DEF
