1988. Nordic combined features a ski jumping competition followed on the next day by a cross-country ski race. Individual event combines 70-metre ski jumping one day with a 15-kilometre cross-country race the following day. The Nordic team competition combines 70-metre ski jumping with a 3 X 10 km cross-country relay race.

Nordic combined was introduced to the Olympic Winter Games program in 1924.

1998. The events are now held on the 90-m jumping hill at the Olympic Games.

Les épreuves individuelles comportent le saut à ski au tremplin de 70 m une journée donnée et une course de ski de fond de 15 km le lendemain. Le combiné nordique par équipe comporte des épreuves de saut à ski au tremplin de 70 m une journée et un relais 3 X 10 km en ski de fond le lendemain.

Le Comité International Olympique (CIO) demande de respecter le nom des Jeux Olympiques tel qu'établi dans la Charte olympique, soit d'utiliser la majuscule «O». Par contre, les règles d'écriture de la langue française recommandent d'utiliser «Jeux olympiques», graphie préconisée par Sport Canada.
