The VSI [Voluntary Sector Initiative] is being co-managed by members of the voluntary sector and the federal government. A new secretariat created by the Voluntary Sector Roundtable [VSR] is responsible for coordinating the sector's participation in this endeavor. Secretariat staff reports to a senior steering committee composed of members of the VSR and other voluntary sector organizations working on the Initiative. The federal government has a task force on the voluntary sector located in the Privy Council Office(the department that supports the Prime Minister) to coordinate its involvement in the VSI. Staff of the Government of Canada's task force reports to a group of senior officials, and to a reference group of nine Cabinet Ministers chaired by the Treasury Board President.

The Voluntary Sector Initiative (VSI) was a unique undertaking between the Government of Canada and the voluntary sector to enhance their relationship and strengthen the sector’s capacity. This site contains documents and links to documents that were created during the Initiative.

L'ISB [Initiative du secteur bénévole] est cogérée par les membres du secteur bénévole et le gouvernement fédéral. Un nouveau secrétariat créé par la Table ronde du secteur bénévole [TRSB] est responsable de la coordination de la participation du secteur à cette entreprise. Le personnel du secrétariat relève d'un comité directeur supérieur formé de membres de la TRSB et d'autres organisations du secteur bénévole qui participent à l'Initiative. Un groupe de travail du gouvernement du Canada rend compte à un groupe de cadres supérieurs, et à un groupe de référence composé de neuf ministres du Cabinet sous la direction du président du Conseil du Trésor.
