The determination of radiation dose is a two-part process. First, a measurement is made, using, for instance, a dosimeter, a urine specimen or an air sample. Second, this measurement is used in a "dosimetric model" to calculate the dose, usually the effective dose or a conservative estimate of this quantity. Dosimetric models may be simple, as in the case of external gamma exposure, where a dosimeter reading is converted to dose by means of a simple conversion factor. For bioassay, however, the conversion of a urine measurement to a dose requires knowledge of the metabolism of the radionuclide, the time and route of intake, and several other factors. 1, record 6, English, - dosimetric%20model

Record number: 6, Textual support number: 1 CONT
