The crust and upper mantle of the Earth are made up of about a dozen large plates and several smaller ones that are constantly moving. The movements are very slow-only a few centimetres per year. Where the plates rub against one another, strain builds up, especially at the edges. When the strength of the rock is exceeded, the Earth's crust may break and suddenly shift by several metres, causing an earthquake. 6, record 3, English, - tectonic%20plate

6, record 3, French, - plaque%20tectonique

There is an extremely important design consideration when constructing and installing pull-outs in a cabinet behind doors. The European hinge, that is often used, has the ability to open in less than the space it requires for door overlap. In effect, the door mounted with these hinges opens in a space less than 5/8" which puts the edge of the door slightly inside the face frame opening. While this feature is extremely beneficial, particularly when two doors are close together, it means that a pull-out will rub or hit the door. To provent this, 1" by 2" cleats are installed on the interior of the carcass, and the drawer glides are mounted to the cleats. 3, record 17, English, - door%20overlap

Static rope does have its uses in specific situations such as abseiling prusiking, or for example, when cleaning new routes, when it can be important not to have a stretchy rope which will rub over sharp edges in a swing motion, and can easily cut through. However, whilst static ropes do not stretch as a climber bounces during abseiling, they do vibrate from side to side which can cause fraying. 2, record 18, English, - static%20rope

5, record 25, French, - arthrose

The basis of a water-based flexo ink is usually pigment dispersed in acrylic resin solution, stabilized with an amine. The pigment is normally a crystalline organic powder, ground to an extremely fine dispersion using a bead-mill. The fine particle size gives the printer improved color strength and prevents clogging of the anilox. For white ink, titanium dioxide pigment is used. And for black ink, carbon black powder is used... The dispersion of pigment in solution acrylic resin is mixed with acrylic emulsions and additives. The blend of acrylic emulsions has a great influence on properties observed in the final ink, such as gloss, drying speed, rub resistance and water resistance. The amine is an important part of a water-based formulation as it affects the stability of the resin... 3, record 42, English, - water%2Dbased%20flexo%20ink

What happens in rice milling? When rice arrives at the mill, it is ushered through a series of sorting machines, separating the kernels, encased in an inedible hull or husk, from any debris. The rice is then sent on its way through the multifaceted processing journey. The rough rice passes through "sheller" machines that remove the hull. What remains is brown rice, with the bran layers still surrounding the kernel. The grains of brown rice are milled by machines that rub the grains together under pressure. This abrasion removes the bran layer, revealing white or "polished" rice. 2, record 47, English, - rice%20milling

The injection screw is divided into three parts. The first half of the screw compresses the material and removes the air. The flight depth is constant. The second part(third quarter) of the screw has decreasing flight depths, thus reducing the volume. Reduction of the volume increases the friction of the polymer molecules as they rub over each other, increasing the temperature. At the end of this section all the material should be melted(plasticized). The third part(last quarter) of the screw is a pump. The flight depth is constant but smaller than the first section because melted material takes up less volume than powder. 2, record 69, English, - injection%20screw
