In September 2001, a working group, composed of experts from the sport community appointed by the Secretary of State (Amateur Sport), recommended that a national alternate dispute resolution (ADR) system for sport be developed in Canada. In response to this recommendation the bill [C-54, an Act to Promote Physical Activity and Sport] provides for the creation of the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada. A flexible organization, the Centre will be a tool to contribute to the fair, timely, equitable and transparent resolution of disputes at a low cost, for the benefit of the sport community. The Mission of the Centre is to provide to the sport community a national alternative dispute resolution service for sport disputes and expertise and assistance in this regard. 3, record 1, English, - Sport%20Dispute%20Resolution%20Centre%20of%20Canada
