[...] l'enseignement programmé se trouve [...] à un tournant. [...]

Instruction has goals. In general, goals can be achieved either through intentional planning activities, by which one gains control over the environment, or through the recognition of opportunities presented by the environment's resources. Most of the time, goals are best achieved by an appropriate combination of both styles. Hence, in attaining teaching goals and in generating subgoals, opportunistic and plan-based contexts define a range of pedagogical styles that vary in the system's control over the shape of the tutorial sequence. In turn, the degree of this control determines different triggering contexts for didactic operations and suggests different roles for diagnosis and didactics. 2, record 25, English, - pedagogical%20context

D'autre part, les stratégies de planification didactique permettent au système de planifier les événements à apprendre, tant au niveau local, individuel, qu'à un niveau global et ce, même lorsque l'étudiant peut réagir librement. BIP(for Basic Instructional Program) is presented as a "problem-solving laboratory" for introductory programming classes(Barr et al., 1976). It attempts to individualize the sequence of instruction via the appropriate selection of successive tasks from a pool of 100 sample problems. In contrast with Kimball' s distance metric on probabilistic values, BIP bases its selection on information contained in a network, called the Curriculum Information Network(CIN), that relates tasks in the curriculum to issues in the domain knowledge. 1, record 26, English, - Basic%20Instructional%20Program

In his landmark paper entitled "AI in CAI : an artificial-intelligence approach to computer-assisted instruction", Carbonell(1970b) defines the difference between what he calls frame-oriented CAI and the new paradigm he was then proposing under the name of information-structure-oriented CAI. The use of the word frame-oriented to describe the CAI systems then prevalent refers to the prestored instructional units, often called frames, in which CAI encodes lessons prepared by a human expert. These units contain small portions of the curriculum and are successively displayed on the screen for presentation and questions. Their exact sequence is determined by fixed branching decisions based on a predefined set of possible answers expected from the student. 1, record 27, English, - frame%2Doriented

A computer program used to simulate the execution characteristics of a target computer using a sequence of instructions of a host computer. The instruction simulator provides bit-for-bit fidelity with the results that would be produced by the target computer following the same operations and initial conditions. Instruction simulators are a major tool used in the verification and validation of flight software. 1, record 28, English, - instruction%20simulator
