Freshwater marshes occur on nearly all continents and include 20–25% of all natural freshwater wetlands globally. Freshwater marshes include all nonforested wetlands except peatlands(e. g., bogs, fens, and mires) and shallow open water wetlands, and are dominated by herbaceous plants, particularly grasses, sedges, and rushes. 3, record 1, English, - freshwater%20marsh

3, record 1, French, - marais%20d%27eau%20douce

Unlike estuaries, freshwater wetlands are not connected to the ocean. They can be found along the boundaries of streams, lakes, ponds or even in large shallow holes that fill up with rainwater. Freshwater wetlands may stay wet all year long, or the water may evaporate during the dry season. 2, record 2, English, - freshwater%20wetland
