Drilling and Blasting for Slope Stabilization and Geotechnical Investigations. Trim blasting is used for controlled blasts in which explosive charges are placed in predetermined pattern of holes drilled into the rock face and then detonated. Potentially unstable masses of rock can sometimes be stabilized using rock bolts and long steel rods drilled into the rock to bind it together. Drilling is a common method of investigation to obtain geotechnical reports required for engineering design. 1, record 1, English, - trim%20blasting

1, record 1, French, - dynamitage%20de%20d%C3%A9coupage

The acquisition time course is often over several minutes for DCE [dynamic contrast enhancement], while DSC [dynamic susceptibility-weighted contrast] is about 60 seconds in length. This time allows for measurement of the wash-in and wash-out of the contrast material in the EES [extracellular extravascular space]. There are several methods for image interpretation. The simplest method is to examine the signal intensity curves over time for a region of interest. The rate or slope of the wash-in and wash-out curve for multiple regions of interest can be visually assessed. 2, record 2, English, - wash%2Dout%20curve

Contour ditch irrigation is also known as wild flooding. It consists of a series of ditches spaced 25 to 100 m apart. There is a slight slope along these ditches and usually, the downslope bank is lower so that the water, when checked, is not restrained from flowing into the field along the entire ditch. Sometimes, water release into the field is accomplished by making cuts through the down-slope bank or using siphons. Theoretically, in contour ditch irrigation the water moves down the slope as a uniform sheet. Successive ditches located down the slope pick up the surface runoff and redistribute it to lower portions of the field. 4, record 6, English, - contour%20ditch%20irrigation

Angular rate gyro accuracy is characterized by two parameters: scale factor and drift. The scale factor describes the capability of the gyro to accurately sense angular velocity at different angular rates. These variations appear as a factor at the output of the gyro. Gyro drift characterizes the ability of the gyro to reference all rate measurements to the nominal zero point. 3, record 15, English, - scale%20factor

Two general methods of landfilling have evolved : the area method and the trench method. Some schools of thought also include a third, the slope, or ramp, method. In some operations, a slope or ramp is used in combination with the area or trench methods.... In the ramp or slope method(a variation of the area and trench landfills) the solid wastes are dumped on the side of an existing slope. After spreading the material in thin layers on the slope, the bulldozing equipment compacts it. When gradients become as steep as 1 : 3, site grading features, such as retaining walls, stairs, ramps and tree wells, should be used. Retaining walls can increase the usable level space on a site. One method of accomplishing this is to build several low walls to create a terraced effect.... Fig. 63. If many such surfaces are to be smoothly blended together, the slopes at the edges must also match given edge conditions to avoid sharp edges.
