A ski bowl is an open expanse of an area that appears like a bowl-shaped depression off the side of a mountain. This configuration is made out of a broad, dish-like formation that extends all the way down to the foot of the mountain. Its gentle and sometimes steep sloping shape allows the skier to choose many paths or pistes when gliding down the slope. 2, record 2, English, - bowl
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The wind is a very important modifier of snow conditions. Areas with deposition of drifted snow should be assessed very carefully: the downwind sides of ridges, hills, and ribs, and local depressions on a steep slope, "caps" of gullies, and notches. Bowls, cirques, and wide depressions have complex wind action patterns that increase the uncertainty when predicting snow stability. 3, record 2, English, - bowl

Paragliders have no rigid structure and are kept in shape by the internal pressure of air, with the pilot suspended by lines beneath. The pilot is clipped into a harness and oriented in a sitting position for maximum comfort. After laying out the wing and lines, launching is simply a matter of moving down the slope a few steps to tension the lines and allow the wind to inflate the wing and raise it above you. A short run forward to pick up airspeed and you’re airborne! 4, record 3, English, - launching
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Paraglider pilots launch from gentle hillsides with their gliders already opened for flight; if the glider isn’t flying properly, the launch can be aborted before leaving the ground. Paragliding launches are not as "committing"; if you want to stop your launch, you just stop running and the canopy floats down behind you. The pilot runs down a gentle slope and glides away from the mountain. 2, record 3, English, - launching

3, record 3, French, - d%C3%A9collage
