Ratio charts are also called semilogarithmic or semilog charts. This particular chart is designed with an arithmetic scale (equal-unit scale) along the X axis, and one or more logarithmic cycles along the Y axis. ... The general principles and mechanical details of drawing the data points and the data path are identical to the procedures for any line chart. 5, record 4, English, - ratio%20chart
Record number: 4, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The interpretation of information mapped onto a semilog(ratio) chart is, therefore, somewhat different from the ordinary arithmetic line graph. The important difference is this : the slope of the data path on a ratio chart reveals the rate(percentage change) at which the Y variable is changing per unit of X.... the ratio chart(semilogarithmic variety) is measuring percentage change in the Y variable only. Since the X scale is arithmetic, changes in the X portion of the data path are arithmetic, not ratio(or percentage) changes. Semilog(ratio) charts are usually employed to graph data... when a Y variable changes by a large amount in a relatively short range of the X variable. 5, record 4, English, - ratio%20chart

Avalanches release from snow slopes in two distinct ways. A point release or loose snow avalanche starts when a small amount of loose snow... slips and begins to slide down a slope, setting additional snow in motion. Flashings are used to make watertight any roof area where the roof membrane terminates, is interrupted, or intersects an area or projection having a marked change in slope or direction... Flashings are generally divided into two categories : base flashings and counterflashings. Base flashings are, in a sense, a continuation of the membrane, turned up onto a surface that is in a different plane from the field of the roof, and installed as a separate operation. They are usually fabricated using a nonmetallic material, such as an asphalt-coated felt. Counterflashings, or cap flashings, can be of metal, coated felt, or other materials. They shield and seal the exposed edges of the base flashing. The combined use of non-metallic materials for base flashings and metal for counterflashings brings out the best in each material. Bituminous base flashing materials have the same coefficient of expansion and contraction as the roof membrane, and they work together as a unit. They are the only type of material acceptable for use in constructing base flashings. 2, record 7, English, - bituminous%20base%20flashing

Si le toit se termine à un parapet ou à une chanlatte, le solin de base devrait passer par-dessus cette construction et être fixé à l'extérieur, par exemple à une bande de clouage. Avalanches release from snow slopes in two distinct ways. A point release or loose snow avalanche starts when a small amount of loose snow-typically the size of a snowball-slips and begins to slide down a slope, setting additional snow in motion. Alternatively, a slab avalanche occurs when a plate or slab of cohesive snow begins to slide as a unit before breaking-up. 2, record 11, English, - point%2Drelease%20avalanche
