To begin felling a tree, first cut out a notch on the side of the tree facing the direction you want it to fall. Make the notch by cutting in horizontally and following with an undercut sloping up to the horizontal cut.... After the undercut is started, swing the saw around and cut a short distance into two sides of the tree. This is called "cornering" and prevents the bark and the sides from tearing when the tree falls. 5, record 1, English, - cornering

The vibrating-grate stoker... is similar to the chain-grate stoker in that both are overfeed, mass-burning, continuous ash-discharge units. However, in the vibrating stoker, the sloping grate is supported on equally spaced vertical plates that oscillate back and forth in a rectilinear direction, causing the fuel to move from the hopper through an adjustable gate into the active combustion zone. Air is supplied to the stoker through laterally exposed areas beneath the stoker.... The grates are water cooled and are connected to the boiler circulating system. 1, record 4, English, - vibrating%2Dgrate%20stoker

Several manufacturers build spreader stokers with air-cooled vibrating or oscillating grates. ... The water-cooled vibrating-grate stoker consists of a tuyere grate surface mounted on ... a grid of water tubes.... Slope stakes are set on lines perpendicular to the centerline(one on each side), at the points where the cut and fill slopes intersect the natural ground surface. The sloping of the slope stakes outward allows the eqpt to work to the stake without removing it, indicates the direction of the centerline of the road, and enables the eqpt operators to read the stakes more easily.
