Record 1 2014-04-14

English

Subject field(s)
  • Commercial Fishing
DEF

[Type of fishing in which the] fishing gear consists of a bamboo pole, to which is attached a line having a feather or other lure with a barbless hook; alternatively bait may be used. In some cases, two men using poles connected to a common line and hook may be required for large fish. The fisherman heaves on his pole to fling the fish behind him on to the deck; as the hook is barbless the fish is disengaged automatically as the line tightens and slides forward along the sloping deck.

OBS

Method applied to types of fish (such as tuna or large size mackerel) having a high individual value.

DEF

Subject field(s)
  • Remote Sensing
DEF

The differential illumination of ground surfaces due to slope angle and aspect variations resulting in surface cover types having a wide range in radiance values.

CONT

The topographic effect is indicated on Landsat images of rugged terrain by the visual impression of relief. It is caused by the variation in spectral radiance due to surface slope and aspect variations. The difference in radiance between a horizontal and sloping surface of the same cover type provides a measure of the topographic effect(Holben and Justice 1981). Holben and Justice(1979) also measured it and showed that the effect is most extreme in areas of rugged terrain and especially for slopes in the principal plane of the sun and at low solar elevations.

OBS

  • Horse Husbandry
CONT

A beautiful, delicate head characterizes the Arabian, often with a "dished" or concave profile below large, prominent eyes; a high-set, arched neck; and a naturally high tail carriage. The back is short and straight; the withers are pronounced and long; the chest is muscular, deep and broad; the shoulders long and sloping; the legs muscular with broad strong joints and clearly defined tendons; and the hooves small with very tough horn, wide at the heel. These points of "type" give the Arabian its distinctive beauty. The ideal height for an Arabian is between 14. 2 and 15 hands and may be chestnut, gray, bay, and black. White markings on the face and legs are common. The coat is fine and silky and the skin is invariably black. The mane and tail are full.

CONT

The Arab is possibly the most beautiful and most noble of all breeds of horse. There is no other horse that has the perfect combination of courage, stamina and speed, along with loyalty and gentle affection. Its hot-blooded nature and stunning good looks have been admired for hundreds of years. Many of the world’s breeds have been developed by crossing the Arab with more cold-blooded, docile horses with a heavier build.

CONT

Describe the landing performance and limitations of the training helicopter type. Describe how to land on sloping ground as follows : establish a steady hover; lower collective gently until the upslope skid contacts the ground; continue lowering the collective, at the same time moving the cyclic gently towards the slope maintaining a level attitude; when both skids are in full contact with the ground, smoothly lower the collective until it is fully down. Prevent yaw throughout. Carry out a seating check by making small gentle movements of the collective and pedals. when certain the helicopter will not slide centre the cyclic and reduce RPM, if required.

Atterrissage.

The mission will provide high-resolution radar altimeter measurements over the margins of the Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets as well as over smaller ice bodies throughout the world. For this purpose, the main payload of the satellite is a new type of radar altimeter that combines several modes of operation : a classical pulse-limited mode; synthetic aperture processing for enhanced along track spatial resolution over sea ice; and interferometric processing with two receiving antennas to acquire across-track measurements over steeply sloping terrain.
