The primary purpose of a stall guard is indeed to keep the horse from coming out of the stall. The stall guard or chain may be used to keep the animal in a stall for a short period or long time period.... However, utilizing stall guards and chains instead of solid stall doors will help to improve the air circulation in the barn. The guard is also easier to adjust to the individual horse than a solid or Dutch door would be. Providing a stall with a stall guard that allows a horse to look out may calm a nervous horse... Horses are usually social creatures, preferring to be in larger groups. Being able to look out of the stall and see other horses will be reassuring to the horse.... In addition, the stall guard can assist in training a horse.... Another use for stall guards is to display information or to make a show barn look classier. Owners of show horses or race horses frequently have stall guards customized with their logos and stable colors to enhance their business image.... Stall guards may also be used as a temporary method of separating horses from each other. For instance, a solid stall guard can be used in a stock trailer to separate a mother from her foal while traveling.

The New Rural Economy Project Phase 2(NRE2) is a research and education program studying rural Canada since 1998. It is a collaborative undertaking bringing together rural people, researchers, policy-analysts, the business community, and government agencies at all levels to identify and address vital rural issues. It is conducted at the national level with historical and statistical data analysis, and at the local level with case studies involving community and household surveys. The NRE's mandate has been extended through 2006 with the help of a major grant from the INITIATIVE ON THE NEW ECONOMY Program(INE) of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

The Institute began life in 1958 when a group of prominent business and labour leaders organized the Private Planning Association of Canada to research and promote educational activities on issues related to public economic and social policy. The PPAC renamed itself the C. D. Howe Research Institute in 1973 following a merger with the C. D. Howe Memorial Foundation, an organization created in 1961 to memorialize the Right Honourable Clarence Decatur Howe. In 1981, the Institute adopted its current name after the Memorial Foundation again became a separate entity in order to focus its work more directly on memorializing C. D. Howe. The C. D. Howe Institute will celebrate its 50th Anniversary as the gold standard for public-policy research in 2008.

Within a few years, Maclean changed the name to Busy Man's Magazine and began commissioning articles before settling on Maclean's in 1911.

The World Business Academy was founded in 1987 as a result of discussions conducted by the Stanford Research Institute(SRI) International in Menlo Park, California USA. These discussions centered upon the role and responsibility of business in relation to today's critical moral, environmental and social dilemmas. The Vancouver Agreement is an urban development initiative of the governments of Canada, British Columbia, and the City of Vancouver. The agreement was signed in March 2000 and commits these government partners to work together, and with communities and business in Vancouver, on a coordinated strategy to promote and support sustainable economic, social and community development. The goals of the Vancouver Agreement are : to increase economic development in the Downtown Eastside; to improve the health of area residents and to increase public safety. This agreement was terminated in March 2005.
