Burbankite is a rare strontium and cerium carbonate mineral. Burbankite is one of many rare minerals that come from the famous mineral locality, Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, Canada. Some specimens have been cut from there and in fact a large 6. 62 carat orange stone is the North American record holder for this species. But burbankite is far too rare to be considered a mainstream gemstone. Its crystal habit is reminiscent of apatite although its color and size is generally quite different. Burbankite's crystals are typically quite small but well formed and make good micromounts. 2, record 14, English, - burbankite

... you can see the basic set up of a traditional jamb peg faceter. The spinning lap provides the grinding and polishing surface, the wooden "dop" sticks to which the rough is adhered, serve to hold the stone in position as various cuts are made. The angle of the cut is controlled by placing the dop stick in a particular hole, the depth of cut is controlled by the amount of time the piece spends in contact with the lap and how hard the facetor presses down on it, and the radial position is controlled by removing, slightly rotating, and reinserting the dop stick in its hole as each different cut is made. Most stones that are cut on such equipment are referred to as "native cut. " 2, record 21, English, - jamb%20peg

The radiant cut is a beautiful combination of the classic emerald cut and the sparkle of the round brilliant. The radiant cut is similar to the princess cut but is usually(though not always) a more rectangular outline and has blocked corners like those of an emerald cut. The cutting is a combination of the step-cutting of the emerald-cut diamond with some triangular faceting of the brilliant cut. The radiant cut is dramatic as a solitaire but also looks great paired with side stones such as baguettes, trillions, or princess shapes. A radiant-cut stone should be set with special prongs to hold the blocked corners securely. 4, record 30, English, - radiant
