This stone mask has a twin residing in Paris in the Musée de l'Homme. Separated over one hundred years ago, the two masks were not reunited until 1975, when the Paris mask travelled to Canada to appear in the exhibition "Images Stone : B. C. "It was then that the relationship between the two masks, expressions of the same face, was discovered. 1, record 1, English, - stone%20mask

1, record 1, French, - masque%20en%20pierre

The two masks fit over each other and are believed to have been worn together during Naxnox performances. The audience would see only one mask at a time, and believe the dancer had the power to change stone at will. The transition from sighted to unsighted mask(creating an illusion of opening and closing the eyes) during the dances was presumably hidden by the dancer's costume. 1, record 2, English, - Naxnox

1, record 2, French, - Naxnox
