StratSat provides a geo-stationary platform at 20 km altitude capable of remaining on-station for up to five years. Payloads include high speed Internet services, direct broadcast TV, mobile telecommunication, etc. The envelope operates as a super-pressure hull(i. e. with no ballonet pressure control system). The hull will be of laminated fabric construction with Tedlar/Teflon, helium/weather barrier developed from AT-10/04. Multiple catenary curtain system supporting a payload module enclosed completely by the envelope. [The] payload module... comprises a single structural module with an externally mounted payload/mission system. The payload module provides a home for all of the airship's primary systems except for the propulsion system. The systems are close packed within the highly insulated module ensuring efficient heat and energy management. The payload module is pendulum stabilised within the envelope. The solar array provides the sole source of renewable energy for the airship. The array is placed over the upper quarter of the hull and extends over approximately three-quarters of the length of the craft. The array can be realigned to the daily sun location/angle by the roll rotation of the whole airship. The energy collected by the solar array is stored for use during the night in the series of batteries. Located in the stored for use during the night in a series of batteries. Located in the payload module, the batteries run the propulsion system, airship services and provide power to the mission system for up to 14 hours(during winter). The airship is propelled and steered by means of a ’Contra-Rotating Coned Rotor’ mounted on a tailcone at the rear of the envelope, as a part of a compound propulsion system. The unit provides longitudinal thrust(to counter the prevailing stratospheric winds) and lateral force(for manoeuvering) to enable the airship to hold station within a 1 km cube. The airship will be equipped with a multi-channel Flight Control Sy 7, record 9, English, - StratSat%C2%AE

BDOS stands for basic disk-operating system. As the words imply, BDOS deals directly with the disks themselves. It may be thought of as a directory or guide to what is stored on the disks, and where. BDOS is your computer's electronic file clerk, organizing the information given it so that once it has been filed away on the disks, the computer can find it again when it is needed. 1, record 18, English, - basic%20disk%2Doperating%20system

gimballed momentum wheel : Better attitude control and energy storage can be achieved by using a pair of counter-rotating micro wheels. This configuration enables micro-satellites to change their angular momentum and orientation with very little net change in stored energy. Likewise, energy can be extracted or added to a pair of wheels without changing the satellite's attitude. Power can be saved while using a regenerative brake state to decrease the speed, or this braking energy can be used to accelerate the other micro-wheel rotating in the opposite direction in a gimballed momentum wheel. Thus, it can sustain spacecraft with limited power during a short-term space mission. 2, record 19, English, - single%2Dgimballed%20momentum%20wheel

Inertial Stellar Compass Concept. ISC technology has artificial intelligence capabilities which will keep a spacecraft on course by providing attitude information to keep it stable and pointing accurately. It will also help the spacecraft recover from unexpected events, a temporary malfunction or power loss. To do that, the compass uses information from the camera-gyro assembly(CGA), which consists of two miniaturized devices : a star camera(or star tracker) to tell the spacecraft where it is pointing; gyroscopes to continuously monitor the spacecraft's motion. The gyroscopes also inform the control system how to keep the spacecraft stable and pointed in the right direction in case the camera is "blinded" by the Sun. Environment Control and Life Support System(ECLSS) : The orbiter's Environmental Control and Life-Support System purifies the cabin air, adds fresh oxygen, keeps the pressure at sea level, heats and cools the air, and provides drinking and wash water. The system also includes lavatory facilities. The cabin is pressurized to sea level(14. 7 psi) with 21 percent oxygen and 79 percent nitrogen, comparable to Earth's atmosphere. The air is circulated through lithium hydroxide/charcoal canisters which remove carbon dioxide. The canisters are changed on a regular basis. Excess heat from the cabin and flight-deck electronics is collected by a circulating coolant water system and transferred to radiator panels on the payload bay doors where it is dissipated. The fuel cells produce about seven pounds of water each hour. It is stored in tanks, and excess water is dumped overboard. The lavatory unit collects and processes body waste, and also collects wash water from the personal hygiene station. The lavatory unit, located in the middeck area, operates much like those on commercial airlines but is designed for a weightless space environment. 3, record 29, English, - environment%20control%20and%20life%20support%20system

External forces on the ISS [International Space Station] during flight in low-Earth orbit require attitude adjustments using the control functions(effectors)... These forces act on the Station to produce torques that are dependent on the seasons, diurnal(daily) phase, and the solar cycle. To counter these forces the Control Moment Gyros and Gyrodynes are used to rotate the ISS in the opposite directions, until the momentum stored in these gyros reaches a maximum, or saturation. At this point, the gyros must be desaturated, or spun down, by firing the thrusters in the opposite direction. Desaturation takes valuable propulsion fuel and is programmed for a minimum of use. 1, record 33, English, - desaturation

2, record 33, French, - d%C3%A9saturation

1, record 38, English, - saturation

1, record 38, French, - saturation%20des%20gyros

During an accounting period, the various debits and credits for a department are stored in accounts in a general ledger. At the end of each month, the DFMS [Departmental Financial Management System] must produce a trial balance statement giving the account opening and/or closing balance of each GWC [government-wide coding] combination, including control accounts. For each of the opening and closing balances, the sum of the debits must equal the sum of the credits. An example will illustrate how the computer assists the operation. Joe Smith delivers a truck load of grain to the elevator, and is directed by the central control board operator(CBO) to receiving pit. Using an alphanumeric keyboard, the CBO types in Smith's account number, the code number of the receiving pit(origin) and the code number of the selected bin(destination) in which his grain will be stored. The computer then determines all possible alternate routes between the receiving pit and the bin and displays them in detail on the video screen. The operator selects the route he wants to use by typing in the proper instruction. All but the selected route codes disappear from the video screen. The computer then determines all possible simultaneous routes that could be used without interference; the operator may later select any of these routes for another operation. 1, record 40, English, - central%20control%20board%20operator

1, record 40, French, - pr%C3%A9pos%C3%A9%20au%20tableau%20de%20commande%20principal

The parasitic fungus Beauveria was the most novel practice, and the main form of biological control tested in the project. The fungus, which is native to the Andes but usually not found at population densities high enough to be an effective form of control, is mixed into the soil where potatoes are stored on the ground. The fungus attacks weevils when they emerge from the tubers to pupate in the ground. The fungus is easy to apply and is similar to the traditional use of ash to combat insect infestations in farmers’ stores. The effect of the parasitic fungus on the pest is highly visible; therefore, farmers were quick to comprehend the efficacy of this practice(Torres et al., 1993). 1, record 42, English, - parasitic%20fungus

Officer personnel data is provided by a coding system based on the officer structure and its associated specifications. Most major personnel data is stored by computer in the Personnel Master File(PMF) at NDHQ. From this control data source reports are generated such as the Resource Management Report(REMAR) used by the manpower distribution directorate at NDHQ and by field units to fill establishment positions; the Career Management Report(CREMAR) for career managers to determine career progression and employment; and the Record of Service(form CF 490) which summarizes all personnel data pertaining to an individual officer(but not miscellaneous qualifications)(501. 2b). 1, record 50, English, - personnel%20data
