Architectural technicians hold a sort of hybrid role in the field of planning and drafting building schematics. Generally speaking, these technicians are concerned with the technical and scientific areas which affect architectural design. When employed in architectural firms, they are typically tasked with assisting with sections of drawings that must be scientifically precise and conform to certain technological specifications. These technicians also work in engineering firms, where the goal is to incorporate scientific and technological information from engineering design teams into working drafts, drawings, and schematics. For architectural firms, these technicians maintain roles which involve investigating necessary technology and limitations in construction. They typically work with contractors and construction design teams to assess structural needs which may be based on the function of the building, as well as examine expected "stressors" which may impact the completed structure. The technicians then develop drawings using computer-aided drafting(CAD) for the small, discrete sections which require this special attention. 1, record 3, English, - architectural%20technician

Genomics, coined by Thomas Roderick in 1986, refers to a new scientific discipline of mapping, sequencing, and analyzing genomes. Genomics is now undergoing, however, a transition or expansion from the mapping and sequencing of genomes to an emphasis on genome function. To reflect this shift, genome analysis may now be divided into "structural genomics" and "functional genomics. " 3, record 8, English, - genomics

Pressure-tuning infrared spectroscopy for biomedical and cancer research... Pressure-tuning vibrational spectroscopy is a powerful tool for the study of structural and dynamic properties at the molecular level. The evaluation of changes in molecular structure associated with cell anomalies in biological tissues and cells became possible because of the development of pressure-tuning infrared spectroscopic techniques in our laboratory to obtain high quality infrared spectra of intact biological tissues and whole cells as a function of pressure. This development allowed us to investigate the molecular bases of a wide range of biological and biomedical problems. In this paper some causes of cell anomalies at the molecular level in human cancers are presented. 1, record 19, English, - pressure%2Dtuning%20infrared%20spectroscopy

Nearly every drug molecule works through a structural interaction with a "target" or "receptor" molecule or protein that plays key roles in all biological processes. In the most common model for this interaction, the drug molecule inserts itself into a functionally important crevice of its target protein, like a key in a lock. The molecule then binds there and either induces or, more commonly, inhibits the protein's normal function. This universal drug-target scheme suggests a powerful alternative approach to drug discovery : if it were possible to identify, in advance, the appropriate protein target for a given therapeutic need and if enough were known about the distinguishing structure of that target protein, it ought to be feasible to design the structure of an ideal drug to interact with it. 2, record 20, English, - target%20protein

Promotion of a chemical reaction by addition of a substance or enzyme (catalyst) that partakes in, but is not permanently affected by the reaction. In the case of enzymes, it is mediated by the functional groups found in amino acid side chains and coenzymes. Notably, the amino acid side chains of histidine, serine, cysteine, lysine, glutamate, and aspartate are frequently directly involved in the catalytic process. Coenzymes or metals work in conjunction with enzymes to provide a greater variety of functional groups than is available through amino acid side chains alone. 2, record 21, English, - catalysis

DNA technology enables the facile modification of proteins by highly specific mutagenesis of their genes. Enzymes with novel properties may be produced in large quantities from the mutant genes. Kinetic analysis of the mutant enzymes can be combined with high-resolution structural data from protein X-ray crystallography to provide direct measurements on the relationships between structure and function. In particular, the strength and nature of enzyme-substrate interactions and their roles in catalysis and specificity may be studied. 3, record 21, English, - catalysis

The DNA-binding domains appear to have well-defined structural motifs : by contrast, mutational studies of the activator domains suggest a disquieting picture of a conformationally ill-defined polypeptide that can function almost irrespective of sequence, provided only that there is a sufficient excess of acidic residues clustered or peppered about. Thus, the elegant molecular machinery that so reliably controls expression of eukaryotic polymerase II-transcribed genes relies on nearly shapeless molecular components dubbed "acid blobs" or perhaps more aptly "negative noodles". 1, record 41, English, - acid%20blob

A major role of the Golgi apparatus is to form secretory vesicles whose limiting membranes can fuse with the plasma membrane of the cell. These vesicles function as vehicles for the transport of substances(membranes and secretory products) to the external environment of the cell.(...) Depending on cell type, secretory vesicles derived from the Golgi apparatus may contain enzymes, structural proteins, glycoproteins, lipoproteins, complex carbohydrates, polysaccharides, particles of high lipid content, or pigments. 2, record 42, English, - secretory%20vesicle

Dictyosome. 2, record 42, French, - v%C3%A9sicule%20de%20s%C3%A9cr%C3%A9tion
