To solve the problem on the microstructural characterization of metallic superlattices, taking the NiFe/Cu superlattices as example, we show that the structures of metallic superlattices can be characterized exactly by combining low-angle X-ray diffraction with high-angle X-ray diffraction. First, we determine exactly the total film thickness by a straightforward and precise method based on a modified Bragg law from the subsidiary maxima around the low-angle X-ray diffraction peak. Then, by combining with the simulation of high-angle X-ray diffraction, we obtain the structural parameters such as the superlattice period, the sublayer and buffer thickness. This characterization procedure is also applicable to other types of metallic superlattices. 2, record 5, English, - metallic%20superlattice

To establish new methods in the lipid research, Far-eastern blot(TLC [thin-layer chromatography] blot), was established for transferring of lipids from an high-performance thin-layer chromatography(HPTLC) plate to a polyvinyledene difluoride(PVDF) membrane within a minute. Applications of this with other methods have been studied. Far-eastern blot, makes possible the following : 1) Purification of glycosphingolipids and phospholipids. 2) Structural analysis of lipids in conjunction with direct mass spectrometry. 3) Binding study using various ligands such as antibodies, lectins, bacterium, viruses, and toxins, and 4) Enzyme reaction on membranes. Sum Frequency Generation Spectroscopy(SFG) is a technique used to analyze surfaces and interfaces. This spectroscopy method utilizes sum frequency generation, where two light beams mix at a surface and generate an output beam with a frequency equal to the sum of the two input frequencies. From the experiment setup and the output beam, one can deduce the composition, orientation distributions, and some structural information of molecules on a surface. SFG has advantages in its ability to be monolayer surface sensitive, ability to be performed in situ(for example aqueous surfaces and in gases), and not causing much damage to the sample surface. 3, record 8, English, - sum%2Dfrequency%20generation

2, record 11, French, - m%C3%A9thode%20radiom%C3%A9trique

Boreholes. Description. Another disposal method that in some ways parallels engineered trenches is the use of holes in the ground for disposal. At Ontario Hydro’s Bruche Station LLW is stored in holes formed by arranging vertical concrete pipes in an array and then filling the space between then with soil. 4, record 13, English, - borehole
