Indoor air quality(IAQ) is one of the fundamental elements affecting people's health and well-being. Currently, there is a lack of awareness among people about the quantification, identification, and possible health effects of IAQ. Airborne pollutants such as volatile organic compounds(VOCs), particulate matter(PM), sulfur dioxide(SO2), carbon monoxide(CO), nitrous oxide(NO), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs), microbial spores, pollen, allergens, etc. primarily contribute to IAQ deterioration. 3, record 1, English, - indoor%20air%20quality

Photosynthesis is the chemical process where plants and some bacteria can capture and organically fix the energy of the sun.... The main product of photosynthesis is a carbohydrate, such as the sugar glucose, and oxygen which is released to the atmosphere. All of the sugar produced in the photosynthetic cells of plants and other organisms is derived from the initial chemical combining of carbon dioxide and water with sunlight. This chemical reaction is catalyzed by chlorophyll acting in concert with other pigment, lipid, sugars, protein, and nucleic acid molecules. Sugars created in photosynthesis can be later converted by the plant to starch for storage, or it can be combined with other sugar molecules to form specialized carbohydrates such as cellulose, or it can be combined with other nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur, to build complex molecules such as proteins and nucleic acids. 3, record 9, English, - photosynthesis

The MLS detects naturally occurring microwave thermal emissions from Earth's limb to create vertical profiles of atmospheric gasses, temperature, pressure and cloud ice. MLS looks 90° from the angle of UARS’ [Upper Atmosphere Research Statellite] orbit. Thermal radiation enters the instrument through a three-mirror antenna system. The antenna mechanically scans in the vertical plane through the atmospheric limb every 65. 5 seconds. The scan covers a height range from the surface up to 90 km(55 miles). Upon entering the instrument, the signal from the antenna is separated into three signals for processing by different radiometers. The 63-GHz radiometer measures temperature and pressure. The 183-GHz radiometer measures water vapor and ozone. The 205-GHz radiometer measures ClO, ozone, sulfur dioxide, nitric acid and water vapor. 2, record 25, English, - microwave%20limb%20sounder

Miners occasionally find coal streaked with iridescent blues and reds. Such coal has aptly been called "peacock coal" because the colors resemble those of a peacock's tail plumage. A series of processes in which atmospheric sulfur dioxide is oxidized to the trioxide, which combines with water and is washed out on to the Earth's surface as sulfuric acid or sulfates; bacterial action converts the sulfates into hydrogen sulfide, which is then oxidized to sulfur dioxide. This mechanism maintains the global atmospheric concentration of sulfur dioxide at a roughly constant level, and it is important to ensure that the extra sulfur dioxide produced by man does not overload it, leading to steadily increasing concentration in the air. 3, record 38, English, - sulfur%20cycle

Three methods of discharging the digester are used in the sulfite processes-hot blowing, cold blowing, and flushing. The emission of sulfur dioxide from the blow pit or dump tank depends on the system of blowing(...) In the hot-blow style, the digester gases are used to discharge the contents of the digester to the blow pit. If no scrubbing is utilized emissions may range from 100 to 150 lb sulfur dioxide per ton of air dried pulp. In the cold blow and flushing style of discharge, the pressure is almost fully relieved from the digester and the relief gases are routes to accumulators for fortifying cooking acid. The contents of the digester are then discharged into a dump tank. Emissions from this source, if no secondary scrubbing is utilized, may range from 10 to 25 lb sulfur dioxide per ton of air dried pulp. 3, record 62, English, - blow%20pit

A crude model for estimating dry deposition in the initial phase, i. e. before complete mixing in the boundary payer has taken place, is presented. It is shown that because of the much more rapid rate of vertical dispersion in an urban environment compared to that in a rural area the proportion of sulfur dioxide emitted that is deposited locally is larger in a small city than in a large city, provided the velocity of dry deposition is the same. 1, record 70, English, - vertical%20dispersion

Defining the area affected by the initial phase as a circle with 70 km radius surrounding the source gives E/Q-values that vary with city size... Thus the analysis does not support the idea that a major portion of the sulfur emitted in a city like Paris is deposited locally. This is an important conclusion, as it lends support to the fundamental idea that most of the sulfur dioxide emitted from a heavy source area survives the initial phase when the pollutants are confined to the air layers relatively close to the ground. 3, record 76, English, - locally

3, record 76, French, - localement
