On May 28 and 29, 2007, the ministry of Transportation hosted Ontario's first Sustainable Transportation Forum, known as the TransForum. The TransForum brought together local and international thought leaders, academics, environmentalists, industry, and policy makers to share ideas about opportunities for innovation that could result in improved transportation.

The Natural Legacy 2000 program is being delivered by four of Canada's largest nature conservation organizations : World Wildlife Fund Canada; the Nature Conservancy of Canada; Ducks Unlimited Canada; and, the Canadian Nature Federation. These environmental groups are joining forces to mark the millennium with a nation-wide project aimed at motivating Canadians to become active stewards of their local environments. Natural Legacy 2000 will result in hundreds of community conservation projects focused on attaining local sustainable environments.

A relatively new concept in the word of fruit production is known as IFP or Integrated Fruit Production. At the heart of this program is integrated pest management. However, IFP goes beyond that in that it looks at the whole orchard system from the planting of trees through to storage and packing of the harvested fruit. In IFP, the whole fruit growing system is considered. Cultural practices, environmental management, safety, record keeping and education are all a part of integrated fruit production. As a result of practicing IFP, the following goals can be achieved : production of optimum yields of quality fruit; achievement of a standard of sustainable food production; production of a safe, high quality food product for consumers.
