TARGET ACCELERATION [6 records]

Record 1 2021-02-25

English

Subject field(s)
  • Guns (Land Forces)
  • Field Artillery
DEF

[A] munition fuze used with artillery munitions, typically projectiles fired by guns … howitzers and mortars.

CONT

Artillery fuzes are tailored to function in the special circumstances of artillery projectiles. The relevant factors are the projectile's initial rapid acceleration, high velocity and usually rapid rotation, which affect both safety and arming requirements and options, and the target may be moving or stationary. Artillery fuzes may be initiated by a timer mechanism, impact or detection of proximity to the target, or a combination of these.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Canons (Forces terrestres)
  • Artillerie de campagne
CONT

Une fusée d'artillerie est un dispositif destiné à déclencher la déflagration de la charge intérieure des projectiles, à un instant précis du vol ou de l'impact.

Record 3 2007-02-06

English

Subject field(s)
  • Launching and Space Maneuvering
DEF

The spacecraft flight period during which altitude and speed increase due to propulsion.

CONT

The ascent guidance function is responsible for commanding attitude, throttle and setting during the powered ascent phase of flight so that the vehicle attains target cutoff conditions in a near-optimal manner while satisfying path constraints such as maximum allowed bending moment and maximum allowed axial acceleration.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Lancement et manœuvres dans l'espace
DEF

Période du vol d'un véhicule aérospatial au cours de laquelle l'altitude et la vitesse croissent sous l'effet de la propulsion.

Record 5 2004-02-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Missiles and Rockets
CONT

Researchers employed an innovative guidance strategy to produce new guidance laws that are nonlinear variants of augmented PRONAV.... The new concept led to guidance laws that do not depend on time-to-go, indirectly minimize miss distance, and compensate for both target and missile acceleration. By applying the new guidance strategy to the complete, fully coupled, nonlinear, intercept kinematics, researchers developed two families of guidance laws that account for various levels of cross-channel couplings between the azimuth and elevation guidance channels.
