The total mortality rate estimated from the lengths in the scientific surveys, the number of fishing days of a fleet per season, the percentage of immature individuals as well as the amount of gear per fishing area are indicators of fishing pressure on a population. For example, a mean total mortality rate estimated during a period when fishing would not have had an impact on the health of the population can serve as a target reference point. Recommendations aimed at reducing the level of withdrawal can then be issued when this target reference is exceeded. 2, record 9, English, - fishing%20pressure

3, record 63, French, - tube%20%C3%A0%20anode%20tournante

RADARSAT ScanSAR Beam Modes : A ScanSAR beam mode is composed of either two, three, or four single beams. The sequence of beams is organized so that the data is collected from a larger area, than what can be collected using a single beam. The ability to "steer" the radar beam using different incidence angles increases the frequency of repeat coverage. For the ScanSAR beam modes, the radar backscatter decrease resulting from incidence angle differences within the image range should be considered before interpreting the image brightness of a specific target. Incidence angle corrections should be applied on the data before making a direct comparison of image brightness values from different Standard beam mode images. 2, record 82, English, - ScanSAR%20beam%20mode

A new air-launched missile will be the first weapon ever with a built-in ability to seek out and destroy enemy armor. The missile, called Wasp because it would be launched in swarms of 10 or more, will allow an attacking aircraft to withdraw before exposing itself to heavy enemy air defenses. Initially it will be programmed to fly to a target area. A terminal guidance seeker then will take over, identifying the armor and steering the missile to an individual target. 2, record 91, English, - air%2Dlaunched%20missile

3, record 91, French, - missile%20a%C3%A9roport%C3%A9

Temperature inversions provide the greatest opportunity for drift. During a temperature inversion, the air is highly stable. Small spray droplets can become trapped in the cool air beneath the inversion ceiling. They can move laterally far enough and in sufficient amounts to cause damage outside the target area. It is unfortunate that inversions are most likely to occur in the early morning, a time when wind speeds are usually low and thus more conductive to spraying. 1, record 92, English, - inversion%20ceiling

To target a specific area on the Earth disk, the scanning thresholds can be set so that a reduced number of forward scan lines are included in each scan cycle. Since these reduced scans can be completed in less time than a full Earth disk scan, reduced scans can provide imagery with a higher temporal resolution than that of the normal half-hourly full Earth disk scans. This mode of scanning is often referred to as reduced scanning or rapid scanning. It should be noted that in rapid scan imaging mode the spin rate, the stepping rate, the number of pixels per line of image data and the resolution of the image data are identical to that for normal full Earth disk scans. 2, record 94, English, - scan%20imaging
