TARGET COST [15 records]

Record 1 2019-07-10

English

Subject field(s)
  • Investment
CONT

Value averaging is an investing strategy that works like dollar cost averaging(DCA) in terms of steady monthly contributions, but differs in its approach to the amount of each monthly contribution. In value averaging, the investor sets a target growth rate or amount on his or her asset base or portfolio each month, and then adjusts the next month's contribution according to the relative gain or shortfall made on the original asset base.

Subject field(s)
  • Market Prices
  • Economic Planning
DEF

The agreed estimated cost normally used as a basis for determining profit formula.

CONT

The target cost may not be the initial production cost, but instead the cost that is expected to be achieved during the mature production stage.... The target cost [is calculated] by subtracting the standard profit margin, warranty reserves, and any uncontrollable corporate allocations. If a bid includes non-recurring development costs, these are also subtracted. The target cost is allocated down to lower level assemblies of subsystems in a manner consistent with the structure of teams or individual designer responsibilities.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Prix (Commercialisation)
  • Planification économique
DEF

CONT

The cow should be in good body condition(BCS 6. 0) at calving which will result in a thrifty calf, and will increase the level of colostrum produced. This will improve general thrift of the calf throughout its early life. The growing calf should receive adequate nutrition to maintain a body condition of 5. 0-6. 0, which will result in an adequate weaning weight, but which will not result in an overly-fat heifer. Fat heifers have reduced milk production later in life and this condition should be avoided. While creep feeding is rarely ever recommended due to high cost and minimal returns, it is still done in some situations. This practice may result in excessively fat heifers and should be discouraged. The heifer needs to weigh at leat 450 lbs at 8 months to continue through the cycle and meet the target weights without needing a high level of nutrition.

Subject field(s)
  • Estimating (Construction)
DEF

An elemental breakdown of the estimated cost of a building, in which the cost of each element of structure and finish is estimated and each of these estimates is then used as a target cost which is not to be exceeded. The design of the building may well have to be tailored to these targets. The process is a control mechanism to ensure that the total building cost is contained within the estimate.

(base : janvier 1968) Ce dernier chiffre ne devrait pas être dépassé si l'on exclut le prix du terrain, des voies et réseaux divers et des équipements très élastiques tels que restaurant et parc de stationnement.

The Satellite Transfer Vehicle (STV), which provides an economical and adaptable longboat for space satellites, is discussed. Market factors affecting satellite delivery and Space Shuttle upper-stage design are discussed, taking into account how the STV may fit into the Shuttle or the Ariane upper stage. The development and technical configuration, and commercial potential of the STV are examined. For the Space Station, the STV can satisfy early missions requirements defined for the NASA Orbital Transfer Vehicle.

OBS

The Surrey Small Satellite Transfer Vehicle(S3TV) should be capable of transferring a number of nano-or picosatellites from the launch vehicle injection orbit to a target orbit and providing phased deployment into a constellation. The resulting economy of scale could provide an opportunity for regular and lower cost launches. Simplifying the interfaces with the launch provider and depending less on the launch provider for specific interfaces to numerous small payloads can streamline the launch campaign and reduce scheduling and technical risks.

Extremely fine nanoceramics which are uniform composites much smoother than the clay that potters bake may be the answer to long-standing problems in engine construction and design. Primary radar is(...) the original form of radio-detection, in which a beam of microwave energy illuminates a passive or "non-cooperating" target and the reflected pulse or echo is processed to display its bearing and distance from the transmitter(three-dimensional or height-finder radars will also display its altitude, although these are, so far, restricted to military surveillance applications, essentially for reasons of cost, plus the fact that there are alternative means of determining the altitude of aircraft, other than hostile intruders).
