Record number: 28, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The lidar technique operates on the same principle as radar; in fact, it is sometimes called laser radar. The principal difference between lidar and radar is the wavelength of the radiation used. Radar uses wavelengths in the radio band whereas lidar uses light, that is usually generated by lasers in modern lidar systems. 7, record 28, English, - lidar
Record number: 28, Textual support number: 2 CONT
There are three basic generic types of lidar : range finders, DIAL, and Doppler lidars. Rande finder lidars are the simplest lidars. They are used to measure the distance from the lidar instrument to a solid or hard target Differential Absorption Lidar(DIAL) is used to measure chemical concentrations(such as ozone, water vapor, pollutants) in the atmosphere. Doppler lidar is used to measure the velocity of a target High-resolution DEMs with vertical accuracy as good as 10 cm can be created with Lidar. Lidar is also better able to map bare earth elevations in forested or vegetated areas than other methods because only a single laser pulse needs to be able to reach between trees and the ground. 8, record 28, English, - lidar

Researchers employed an innovative guidance strategy to produce new guidance laws that are nonlinear variants of augmented PRONAV.... The new concept led to guidance laws that do not depend on time-to-go, indirectly minimize miss distance, and compensate for both target and missile acceleration. By applying the new guidance strategy to the complete, fully coupled, nonlinear, intercept kinematics, researchers developed two families of guidance laws that account for various levels of cross-channel couplings between the azimuth and elevation guidance channels. 2, record 48, English, - guidance%20law

The Space Shuttle stops within 50 meters of Mir, which is approximately one-half the length of a football field. From that position the Space Shuttle waits for clearance from Mission Control to continue. When the command is given to continue, the Reaction Control System is activated again and the Space Shuttle closes in on Mir at a speed of about 0. 05 meters per second until it reaches a distance of about 9 meters. There, the Space Shuttle stops again and waits for approximately 5 minutes. The Commander and Pilot make sure they can see the docking target clearly and fine-tune the alignment of the Space Shuttle with the docking target. A large black cross called the Stand-off Cross is mounted 30 centimeters(cm) above the back plate in the center of the target. When the Commander has the Stand-off Cross squarely in line with the docking target, he or she maneuvers the Space Shuttle and makes contact with the docking ring. Once a series of hooks is engaged, the Space Shuttle is then successfully docked with Mir. 2, record 60, English, - docking%20target

The only duty of the concept teaching program is to select the small sets to be presented at each iteration from a pool of prestored classified instances. Its objective is to find the sequence that will minimize the time elapsed between the presentation of the first instances and the last error in classification. To this end, it maintains a model of the student's set of hypotheses(exactly how the model is inferred is left unspecified). In addition to a definition of the(target concept), it is given a model of its student's learning mechanisms. Hence it can select the instances by which its learning model would minimize the difference between its student model' s set of hypotheses and the correct concept. This difference must be computed according to some distance measure, which can be very difficult to determine. 1, record 74, English, - concept%20teaching%20program
