ENVISAT/ASAR may be calibrated using the ERS [European Remote Sensing Satellite] instrument. Two SAR [synthetic aperture radar] images of the same area are required and at least one strong point-like target must be visible in both scenes. The target response should originate from the same stable scatterer. For the technique a very coarse digital elevation model(DEM) of the scene is suitable. OBS

It is accomplished by tracking a balloon-borne radar target, responder, or radiosonde transmitter with either radar or a radio direction finder. With a radio direction finder, the height data must be supplied by other means, normally by concurrent radiosonde observation. With radar, if height data are not otherwise supplied, the slant range must be recorded in addition to the angles of elevation and azimuth.

Researchers employed an innovative guidance strategy to produce new guidance laws that are nonlinear variants of augmented PRONAV.... The new concept led to guidance laws that do not depend on time-to-go, indirectly minimize miss distance, and compensate for both target and missile acceleration. By applying the new guidance strategy to the complete, fully coupled, nonlinear, intercept kinematics, researchers developed two families of guidance laws that account for various levels of cross-channel couplings between the azimuth and elevation guidance channels.

DEF

CONT

Hydrological Data Collection. In order to model the hydrology of a stream study segment over a range of flow rates, it is necessary to collect specific data defining the hydraulic boundary conditions. Boundary conditions define the target hydraulic simulation output, i. e. the desired flow rate, velocity and water surface elevation at the up-stream and down-stream ends of the segment. Hydraulic boundary are typically defined by flow rate, velocity magnitude and direction and/or water surface elevation. Boundary conditions, for instream flow analysis, are usually defined at the up-stream or down-stream boundaries of the study segment. In addition to the boundary conditions it is important to collect both quantitative and qualitative hydraulic information within the boundaries of the study segment. This additional data is used for model calibration and verification.
