Guide RNAs (gRNAs) are tiny RNA [ribonucleic acid] transcripts that guide the editing machinery through base-pairing with the mRNAs [messenger ribonucleic acids] in edited regions. gRNAs are complementary to small segments of the fully edited mRNAs, and thus serve as mini-templates to guide the addition and deletion of Us from the pre-edited mRNA as they form a locally double-stranded RNA helix. 4, record 1, English, - guide%20ribonucleic%20acid

No one studying molecular biology can escape the impact that the CRISPR/Cas9 system has had on the field. In its natural environment, it functions as an adaptive bacterial immune system that can remember past viral infections. However, it is mainly known and popular as a highly versatile and precise tool for gene editing.... At the heart of the system is Cas9, a programmable and sequence‐specific endonuclease that introduces double‐strand breaks into DNA, which can be exploited to modify the DNA sequence in many different ways. The Cas9 cleavage site is determined by a small RNA molecule, termed guide RNA(gRNA), that base pairs with the target DNA and at the same time binds to Cas9 to initiate the site‐specific double‐strand break... 5, record 1, English, - guide%20ribonucleic%20acid

First, the objects in the video have different postures resulting in frequent occlusion, and their motion is irregular. Second, conditions such as the field depth, the resolution, the weather, the illumination, and the diversity of the scene must be considered. Thus, the results of a target detection algorithm have great influence on the follow-up work. Therefore, even in today's technological development, the basic task of target detection is still a very challenging subject with great potential and space for improvement. 1, record 2, English, - target%20detection%20algorithm

This chemical sensing technique relies on nanoparticles consisting of gold and silica called nanoshells, invented 10 years ago at Rice by nanophotonics pioneer Naomi Halas. Nanoshells are about 20 times smaller than a red blood cell, and they can amplify light waves and focus them so tightly that scientists can use them to detect just a few molecules of a target chemical. Building catalysts directly on the surface of the nanoparticles themselves allows researchers to use the nanosensing capabilities of nanoshells to directly follow chemical reactions on the catalyst using light. 8, record 12, English, - gold%20nanoshell

Subsea oil/gas fields may have a plurality of wells linked to a host facility that receives the oil/gas via flowlines. Such a field may have a subsea well field architecture that employs either single or dual flowlines designed in a looped arrangement with in-line pipe line end termination("PLET") units positioned at selective locations for well access. The linkage between wells creates a need for PLETs to be deployed within prescribed target box areas to allow for well jumper connections to the flowline. 2, record 14, English, - pipeline%20end%20termination

Let’s clarify one thing right off the bat, er, club. The term “driving range” is a misnomer. Teaching professionals refer to those large patches of terrain as “practice ranges” for good reason. In fact, most pros will advise you to use your driver sparingly on the range, as you would on the course. Whatever you call them, these ranges are ideal for practicing with just about every club in your bag. In the general context of environmental impact assessment, it usually refers to the measurement of environmental variables after a development proposal has been initiated (the baseline constituting such measurement before project initiation). The Space Shuttle stops within 50 meters of Mir, which is approximately one-half the length of a football field. From that position the Space Shuttle waits for clearance from Mission Control to continue. When the command is given to continue, the Reaction Control System is activated again and the Space Shuttle closes in on Mir at a speed of about 0. 05 meters per second until it reaches a distance of about 9 meters. There, the Space Shuttle stops again and waits for approximately 5 minutes. The Commander and Pilot make sure they can see the docking target clearly and fine-tune the alignment of the Space Shuttle with the docking target. A large black cross called the Stand-off Cross is mounted 30 centimeters(cm) above the back plate in the center of the target. When the Commander has the Stand-off Cross squarely in line with the docking target, he or she maneuvers the Space Shuttle and makes contact with the docking ring. Once a series of hooks is engaged, the Space Shuttle is then successfully docked with Mir. 2, record 28, English, - docking%20target

The perimetric variation of visual acuity was first mapped in 1857 by Aubert & Förster, again by Hirschberg in 1887, and yet again by Werthein in 1894. Those early pioneers established that visual acuity falls inversely with eccentricity of target location from the center of the visual field, and that iso-acuity contours, or "isopters" to use a term invented by Hirschberg, are horizontally elongated ovals displaced by increasing amounts into the temporal visual field with increasing eccentricity. 1, record 31, English, - Aubert%2DF%C3%B6rster%20phenomenon
