The result is all style and little substance even as the young actors seek out fine writers such as Harold Pinter and Italo Calvino for inspiration. Pinter's MOUNTAIN LANGUAGE and Asimov's stories like "The Target" and "The Mirror" are interspersed with what could be read as four of five different monologues. The motif of the mirror and its physical presence runs through the play. The monologues range from emphasizing our interconnectedness as human beings and to the ironical claims of power by religious factions. Much of the drop in the target student population can be attributed to non-transmission of the language at home. With a language continuity index of about 70% since 1971, the target student population is expected to drop even more sharply. The school definitely plays a role in this transmission and, clearly, measures that ensure the transmission of French must continue to be implemented, because the right to instruction in French will be lost if French is no longer used as a mother tongue by the target student population or as a language of instruction. 5, record 39, English, - language%20continuity%20index

This concept does not seem to have a set terminological unit to designate it in the target language. The concept does exist in the English language, however, as the following text indicates :"A frequency polygon is a line graph of class frequency plotted against class mark. It can be obtained by connecting midpoints of the tops of the rectangles in the histogram.... the sum of the areas of the rectangles in the histogram equals the total area bounded by the frequency polygon and the X axis... 2, record 40, English, - equivalence

Self's vision of formalizing teaching in terms of a student model is given a sharp focus in his work on concept teaching(Self, 1977). It differs from other projects by being a formal experiment on teaching rather than a teaching system. The domain is the acquisition of simple conjunctive concepts in a relational language close to first-order logic. An example of the concepts taught by Self's system would be R(x) T(y)("There is a rectangle and no triangle"). The target concept is taught through successive variable-free examples classified as positive or negative instances. For example, the tutor could say that R(a) T(b)("There is a rectangle a and a triangle b") is a negative example. Since the order in which the sequence of instances is presented greatly influences the time the student takes to converge on the correct concept, the idea is for the teacher to use a learning model to optimize its selection of examples. 1, record 44, English, - concept%20teaching
