The repeater, which consists of an amplifier and a programmable delay line, amplifies and delays the intercepted signal. By transmitting this signal back to the radar and gradually increasing the delay, the range gate in the radar tracking system can be captured and pulled away from the target echo, thereby producing range deception. This technique is usually referred to as range gate pull off(RGPO). 3, record 11, English, - range%20gate

A shot is the combination of a stroke and the situation in which it is used. 3, record 30, English, - shot
Record number: 30, Textual support number: 1 OBS
"Long" is an informal expression used to indicate that a shot went out past the baseline. Important nuance: a "stroke" implies early preparation and a complete follow through. If one were to envision a stroke, one would see a series of sequences, ending with a "shot", i.e. the result of all of the above. Consequently, a "shot" is the result of the "stroke". "Shot" implies a quick, sharp movement because one is focusing on the end result, not the series of sequences leading up to it. A "blow" is rather an imprecise, general term similar in meaning to "shot". Although many would like to maintain these nuances in English, "shot" and "stroke" are often used synonymously. "Blow" is used only rarely. Note, however that although there are two possible equivalents ("coup" and "frappe") in French, neither are semantically identical to the English offerings. The Spanish term "pegada" works well as an equivalent for "shot", although technically the term more specifically refers to the actual hitting action caused by the racket coming in contact with the ball, and not to the end result [cause vs effect]. 2, record 30, English, - shot

5, record 32, French, - cochon

Subsea oil/gas fields may have a plurality of wells linked to a host facility that receives the oil/gas via flowlines. Such a field may have a subsea well field architecture that employs either single or dual flowlines designed in a looped arrangement with in-line pipe line end termination("PLET") units positioned at selective locations for well access. The linkage between wells creates a need for PLETs to be deployed within prescribed target box areas to allow for well jumper connections to the flowline. 2, record 34, English, - pipeline%20end%20termination

The parallel pattern search legs are aligned with the major, or longer, axis of the rectangular search areas, whereas the search legs of the creeping line pattern are aligned with the minor or shorter axis of rectangular search areas. The creeping line pattern is used when : a) the search area is narrow, long, and fairly level, b) the probable location of the target is thought to be on either side of the search track within two points, or c) there is a need for immediate coverage of one end of the search area. 3, record 35, English, - creeping%20line%20pattern

The angle defined by the incident radar beam and the vertical (normal) to the intercepting surface. 3, record 48, English, - incidence%20angle
Record number: 48, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The incidence angle is commonly used to describe the angular relationship between the radar beam and the ground, surface layer or a target. A change of the radar illumination angle often affects the radar backscattering behaviour of a surface or target. The incidence angle changes across the radar image swath; it increases from near range to far range. In the case of satellite radar imagery, the change of incidence angle for flat terrain across the imaging swath tends to be rather small, usually on the order of several degrees. In the case of an inclined surface(slope), the local incidence angle is defined as the angle between the incident radar beam and a line that is normal to that surface. The local incidence angle determining, in part, the brightness, or image tone, for each picture element(pixel) and slope facet, is a key element in the prominent rendition of terrain features in radar imagery. 3, record 48, English, - incidence%20angle

To target a specific area on the Earth disk, the scanning thresholds can be set so that a reduced number of forward scan lines are included in each scan cycle. Since these reduced scans can be completed in less time than a full Earth disk scan, reduced scans can provide imagery with a higher temporal resolution than that of the normal half-hourly full Earth disk scans. This mode of scanning is often referred to as reduced scanning or rapid scanning. It should be noted that in rapid scan imaging mode the spin rate, the stepping rate, the number of pixels per line of image data and the resolution of the image data are identical to that for normal full Earth disk scans. 2, record 56, English, - scan%20imaging

The Space Shuttle stops within 50 meters of Mir, which is approximately one-half the length of a football field. From that position the Space Shuttle waits for clearance from Mission Control to continue. When the command is given to continue, the Reaction Control System is activated again and the Space Shuttle closes in on Mir at a speed of about 0. 05 meters per second until it reaches a distance of about 9 meters. There, the Space Shuttle stops again and waits for approximately 5 minutes. The Commander and Pilot make sure they can see the docking target clearly and fine-tune the alignment of the Space Shuttle with the docking target. A large black cross called the Stand-off Cross is mounted 30 centimeters(cm) above the back plate in the center of the target. When the Commander has the Stand-off Cross squarely in line with the docking target, he or she maneuvers the Space Shuttle and makes contact with the docking ring. Once a series of hooks is engaged, the Space Shuttle is then successfully docked with Mir. 2, record 62, English, - docking%20target

The large dot located in the centre of the rings at each end of the playing area on a curling sheet, the target toward which the stones are aimed; it helps determine which rock is closest to the centre of the house, where intersect the tee line and the centre line. 4, record 68, English, - tee
Record number: 68, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The house is formed of four concentric circles having a diameter of 12 (3,66 m), 8 (2,44 m), 4 (1,22 m) and 2 feet (0,61 m) respectively. The ring enclosed by the 12-foot and the 8-foot circles (called "outer ring") is blue and the one enclosed by the 4-foot and the 2-foot circles (called "inner ring" or "inside ring"), red, which leaves uncolored the ring enclosed by the 8-foot and the 4-foot circles (called "middle ring") and the inside of the 2-foot circle (called "tee" or "button"), giving them a white appearance. Seen from above, the house appears as a series of three rings, blue, white and red around a white button. 4, record 68, English, - tee
Record number: 68, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The tee is the uncoloured centre circle of the target; it is outlined by the red 4-foot circle surrounding it. In certain countries, a dolly placed on one end of the tee line is used to mark the centre of the house. The term «dolly» is not a synonym of the term «tee». 4, record 68, English, - tee
Record number: 68, Textual support number: 2 OBS
The centre of the house being a full circle and not a ring, there is a mix as to what is really the "inner circle": the red ring or the button? Since the rings, outer, middle and inner, or 12-foot, 8-foot and 4-foot, are considered as having a tee or button in their centre, it follows that the "inner circle" is the red ring enclosed between the 4-foot and the 2-foot circles and not the tee itself, even if the 2-foot circle enclosing the tee is the smallest of the four circles forming the house. [The illustration in The Visual Dictionary clearly establishes that the "inner circle" is the area enclosed by the 4-foot circle]. 4, record 68, English, - tee

Record number: 68, Textual support number: 3 OBS

This concept does not seem to have a set terminological unit to designate it in the target language. The concept does exist in the English language, however, as the following text indicates :"A frequency polygon is a line graph of class frequency plotted against class mark. It can be obtained by connecting midpoints of the tops of the rectangles in the histogram.... the sum of the areas of the rectangles in the histogram equals the total area bounded by the frequency polygon and the X axis... 2, record 78, English, - equivalence

Tracking tasks focus on motor activities as distinct from perceptual or cognitive activities to perform the task the subject aligns a marker with a target. The marker may be the subject's own finger or, more usually, a cursor or pointer operated using a control such as a joystick, handwheel or keyboard. The target may be a series of lights which illuminate in random order, or a moving line on a screen. Tracking tasks are often visual by may be auditory or tactile. Every tracking task is jointly controlled by the subject and the system and, whatever the configuration, data is gathered on the speed and accuracy of the subject's responses to changes in the status of the target. Tracking tasks are characterized in three ways : 1. pursuit vs compensatory tracking, 2. system-paced vs subject-paced tracking, 3. step vs continuous input tracking. 1, record 79, English, - tracking%20task
