TARGETED DRUG [9 records]

Record 1 2026-03-20

English

Subject field(s)
  • Medication
DEF

A pill containing at least two active agents to be taken in one unique dose.

CONT

A polypill is a multidrug formulation in a single pill intended to simplify the drug regimen and reduce medication-induced adverse effects. The most common multidrug combinations in a polypill are used to treat cardiovascular diseases and are targeted against key modifiable risk factors such as hypertension and hyperlipidemia. These contain blood-pressure lowering agents, statins, and anti-platelet agents usually in a fixed dose.

DEF

Within the last few years, we have seen an increasing number of predictive biomarker assays being developed to guide the use of targeted cancer drugs. This type of assay is called companion diagnostics and is most often developed in parallel to the drug using the drug-diagnostic co-development model.

Combinatorial Library. Martek's proprietary drug discovery technology is based on a robust and versatile reaction platform that generates a diverse collection of small organic compounds by carrying out multiple chemical reactions simultaneously with given sets of chemical substrates. The optimal leads can be used directly as drugs if desired. To construct these chemical libraries, we use a collection of unique chemical entities and an array of different chemical reactions. These chemical libraries consist of a collection of single compounds stable for long term storage in an ordered molecular archive. Once a desired biological activity is identified, characterization of an active chemical lead is straightforward because the molecular archive is made up of individual compounds. The distinction between our technology from the others is the ability to quickly transform suboptimal leads to optimal ones, thereby establishing a few highly potent drug candidates for a given targeted disease in a short period.

Nanotechnology has excellent potential in revolutionizing Health Care industries. The reduction in size of pharmaceutically active ingredients should increase the stability and bioavailability of the drug. The nanodrug delivery systems will have extraordinary features such as targeted ultracontrolled release of drugs vis-a-vis existing drug delivery systems.

[discussed were] the role of the nurse in counseling employees at risk for HIV [and] the importance of pre- and posttest counseling in accordance with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations. The communication strategies ... used were open-ended questions, terminology (common or street language) easily understood and meaningful to the client, and recognition of cultural figures associated with each approach.

CONT

... The researchers’ own knowledge of street language and drug behavior has enabled them to capture information that would escape most observers... the creation, production, and distribution of a comic book... targeted for drug users... uses street language... ghetto street language and language variation and its effects on attitudes toward and perception of others... [Source : PASCAL database].

OBS

... the spoken language of everyday life is learned from infancy - in the home, in the streets and at times even from associates of dubious character. It includes figures of speech, manufactured words, phrases of obscure origin and also vulgarities and obscenities. In the spoken language we find nonsense words, grammatical errors, mispronunciations, and fad words and phrases which have a brief period of popularity and are then discarded ... it includes what in America is considered "colloquial" and "slang", and in France "familier, populaire, langue verte and argot ..." Slang is most closely paralleled in French by the "langue verte", which is defined as "the ensemble of words and figures of speech commonly used in the street, along the boulevards, in shops, clubs, markets and workshops, etc."
