In contrast to procedures of breaking down jobs into elements of minimum content, as typified by Taylorism, job enlargement is a procedure whereby equivalent jobs are amalgamated into a single job. Its effect is to create an aggregated job, previously divided among several positions and posts, which is characterised by increased autonomy and discretionary scope.

Sometimes incorrectly considered as a synonym for "job enrichment".

Métodos de control de tiempos y movimientos, para aumentar la productividad del trabajo. Difundidos a partir de su promotor Frederick W. Taylor (1856-1915), a quien se tiene por fundador del management, consisten, sobre todo, en la medición del tiempo que emplean los trabajadores en realizar una determinada tarea, estudiando los movimientos que realizan, a fin de tratar de ponerlos en su orden lógico, para así acortar al mínimo posible el tiempo empleado en conseguir una unidad de producto. Taylor también recomendó la mejora del equipo, las primas a la productividad, y la cooperación de managers y trabajadores.
